My 1st Laker impression: they want to run, but no one wants to pass. Rondo will pass, but he wants to run 15 seconds of clock first. Everyone needs the ball in their hands. Even Svi seems to need the ball in his hands. I don’t envy Luke Walton.

LeBron looks good with Kuzma and will look good with Lonzo and Josh Hart. Ingram too, but that’d mean no center. Rondo? No. I like Rondo or Stephenson with JaVale McGee.

Shocker: they need more shooting and fewer ISO guys. Like, 4 fewer.

     It’s early days
Give them time to find some rhythm and they’ll play with more cohesion and selflessness

Yeah after one preseason game I’d be concerned. Golden State list to Minnesota without Butler too. The West is up for grabs.

Not a lakers Fan however I do like the way Ball plays the game.. So in saying that I will be interested to see if Ball is the difference make that holds this roster together one way or another…

Will he get lebron easier looks and less ball handling?

Will he stay healthy for a bigger chunk of the season?

Will they have better ball movement or will Lebron try be Point again?

Is Balls Jumper better as advertised or is it the product of summer workouts(where it doesn’t look good in season)?

It will be interesting to see how they go the next couple of seasons…

Lakers lead the league in transition points with 1146. Thanks in part to Ball. Lonzo moves the ball much quicker than Rondo. I can’t wait to see to see Lebron & Lonzo and this team by the all star break.

A team with a lot of ball handling options is always nice but if those players need the ball in their hands to be effective will be an issue. LBJ playing off ball stretches the floor but if Lonzo or Rondo take the ball they need a shooter or two alongside LBJ to really spread the play and find openings.

It was hard to get much of an impression from the first game. Lebron looked rusty and out of sync (which is to be expected I guess). He was clearly trying to feel his teammates out.

It looks like they are going to play small a lot, since their only true centers are McGee and zubac. McGee can’t play big mins and Zubac hasn’t really shown he can be counted on. They are probably going to play kuzma, Beasley and lebron at the 5 a decent amount. Will they be able to survive on defense with those lineups? The early signs from last night weren’t very encouraging but you can’t overreact to one preseason game.

Ball absolutely needs to the starter as soon as he gets 100% healthy. Rondo is just too ball doominant and too much of an offensive and defensive liability to fit with this roster. They probably could’ve used the money they are giving him more wisely.

I thought Caldwell pope stunk going 0-5 and forcing jumpers early in clock. Maybe he was just using this game to get loose. McGee was the biggest positive surprise, he looked real good. Also I think Wagner who is supposed to miss all of preseason will find way into the center rotation. He can space floor and that’s something lakers need. Also thought Stephenson played well but he is the epitome of a one on one player so will be interesting to see how he works out.

The biggest thing I noticed fron the DEN-LAL game is what a LBJ-LAKERS BUTT-KISS network the four-letter network has become….I mean it was pathetic considering how they were being dominated by the Nuggets for most of that game.

The Lakers lacked chemistry, guess that’s kinda expected. As of now I feel that those 3rd seed projections are unfounded and over-hyped but could easily make the 7th or 8th seed as of right now. They have some talent, how long will it take to pull it all together ?

What I got from this game is they still can’t defend anyone.

lakers were actually solid defenisvely last year. Top half the league in almost every metric

You are correct but LeBron will not help their regular season defense. There is no chance LeBron is going to give real defensive intesity in the regular season. LeBron always saves himself for the playoffs.

As much as I hate the guy for constantly sh!tting on the Raptors every year in the playoffs and dismantling my favorite sports team ever I gotta say he played his heart out last year and gave it everything for all 82 games. Nothing but respect for how he performed last year. That Cavs team was an absolute joke.

I know it’s preseason, etc., etc. But … Jokic and Plumlee just went for 43 on 18 of 23 shooting as they split minutes at the 5.

I actually like McGee as a backup, playing limited munutes. But the Lakers really need to address their play at the 5. I think the think that really hurt Cleveland during LeBrons most recent run there was their inability to protect the rim consistently, and this Laker team might be taking that inability to a new level.

Their new veterans are subpar defensively, but their young guys have a chance at that end of the floor. But opponents need to meet some resistance at the rim and I don’t see that on the roster right now besides McGee.

Offensively, they’ll be okay. They’ll be good in transition, they’ll pass it and share it I think. Just might not consistently shoot it from distance.

Hate to overreact to a couple of preseason games, but those are my takeaways from tonight’s game.
