Feel free to post all Lockout questions on this thread if you have anything that you may be unsure of. I encourage everyone who somewhat have the knowledge to answer the questions to please do so.

    • By the Summer League being cancelled is it over a 50% chance of a Lockout now?
    • If there is a Lockout can teams make trades, if so are they only allowed to trade for picks during the offseason?
    • How much of the Lockout rumors will effect the Free Agency this summer?

Will the D-League also be inactive due to a lockout?

The lockout is imminent and the summer league being cancelled only proves this.

I don’t really know too much about what will happen but I expect it to be similar to NFL’s lockout which means no trades or signings can happen with the labor issues are trying to be resolved.

I don’t think the Lockout will cancel the entire 2011-2012 season just half of it. I expect the season to start up again in like January or February.

A question I have though, if the above is true then Will teams be able to resign their free agents before the lockout happens or at least given sometime to try and do so once the season starts up again, or will the season just start up automatically with virtually no offseason?

I think lockouts tend to be similar through most of the professional sports…so this is what happened to the amateur draft for the NHL lockout in 2004 that resulted in a full season cancelation.

    "

    Resolution

The loss of the 2004–05 season meant that there were no results on which to base the order of the 2005 entry draft. The league settled on a lottery system in which all teams had a weighted chance at the first pick, expected to be Sidney Crosby. The lottery was tilted so teams with fewer playoff appearances over the last three seasons and fewer number one overall picks over the last four seasons had a better chance of landing higher picks. The complete order was determined by the lottery, and the 2005 draft was conducted in a "snake" style, meaning in even rounds, the draft order was reversed. This system was an attempt to compromise between those who felt all teams should have had an equal chance at the first pick and those who felt only the weaker teams should have been in the running.

To ease the transition to the salary cap, teams were allowed one week to buy out players at two-thirds the cost of their remaining contract, which would not count against the salary cap. Bought out players could not re-sign with the same team. "

I think the D-league can operate as its own entity.  They might however see a small exodus seeing as their is no parent league to be called up to.

If the 2011-2012 season is a complete wash how is the 2012 draft order determined? Or will there even be one?
