Nothing signals the start of a new year like cliché resolutions.

Precisely why we caught up elite high school hoopers from around the country to have them dish on their New Year’s resolution for hoops.

Here’s what they want to do different/better on the hardwood in 2015.

Ian DuBose, Ravenscroft (Raleigh, N.C.), G, 2017

College: Undecided

My New Year’s resolution for hoops is … “To hone my overall skill-set more. I want to keep working on my jump shot and working on my ball handling and just keep going hard on every play.”

Malik Newman, Callaway (Jackson, Miss.), SG, 2015

College: Undecided

My New Year’s resolution for hoops is … “Get. Buckets!”

Antonio Blakeney, Oak Ridge (Orlando, Fla.), SG, 2015

College: Undecided

My New Year’s resolution for hoops is … “To get a lot stronger and to keep tightening my handles. My main goal is to win a state championship because it has never been done at my school.”

Chris Clemons, Millbrook (Raleigh, N.C.), PG, 2015

College: Campbell

My New Year’s resolution for hoops is … “To work so hard on my shooting that I get to the point where I never miss!”

Ben Simmons, Montverde (Montverde, Fla.), F, 2015

College: LSU

My New Year’s resolution for hoops is … “To be the best Ben Simmons I can be; not only in basketball but as a person too. Just focusing more on what I need to do and giving all my effort when I’m in the gym and on the court. Then, off the court, being a leader and being someone that the younger guys can look up to. I just want to make the right decisions.”

Isaiah Briscoe, Roselle Catholic (Roselle, N.J.), PG, 2015

College: Kentucky

My New Year’s resolution for hoops is … “To win states for the second time in a row and win the (Tournament of Champions) to top it all off.”

Thomas Bryant, Huntington Prep (Huntington, W.Va.), F, 2015

College: Undecided

My New Year’s resolution for hoops is … “To finish the year strong with basketball and schoolwork just by taking that extra effort and doing things that other people aren’t. Also, winning a national championship.”
