Cypress Lake (Katy, Texas) point guard De’Aaron Fox can vividly remember watching his Houston Hoops AAU teammates Kelly Oubre, Justise Winslow and Justin Jackson suit up in the 2014 McDonald’s All American Game.

“It was just crazy to see them in that game because that’s every high school player’s dream,” Fox said. “I definitely asked them a lot of different questions about it. They all just told me that it was amazing.”

He’ll know that feeling firsthand on March 30 when he suits up for the East.

Tuesday Fox, a Kentucky signee, received his honorary McDonald’s All American Game jersey during a ceremony at his school as part of the McDonald’s All American Game Hometown Heroes presented by American Family Insurance.

“Being able to put this jersey on is just crazy,” Fox said. “Most of the greats of this game have put this jersey on and for me to be able to do that is just something that’s hard to describe. I feel honored.”

This season, Fox is averaging 34 points, eight rebounds, five assists and three steals a game for the Spartans who face Cypress Creek (Houston) tonight in the district finale.

“We’ve gone on a pretty good streak and I feel like we’re going into the playoffs next week really hot,” Fox said. “It’s perfect timing to get this jersey because it just motivates me even more and it gets me even more ready to play.”
