Big East Conference Wrap Up

The Big East regular season and tournament has concluded and the first two rounds of the NCAA Tournament are complete. With six Big East teams making the Big Dance, it’s time to wrap up the season and give the final takes of the blog this year, with season ending awards for the best players and coaches, and name the first, second and defensive All-Big East teams.

Grant WilliamsGrant WilliamsGrant Williams may be on the shorter side for a power forward at just 6’7, but he is a man-child. He averaged 15 points per game, up from 12 during his freshman season. And managed to average 6.3 boards per game.

Now that the regular season is over, the Big East Tournament is upon us. There are a couple bubble teams in the Big East heading into the tourney and this is their last shot to impress the committee and make it to the Big Dance. This blog is solely devoted to performances over this week at Madison Square Garden.

Dean WadeDean WadeKansas State’s star player had yet another successful week playing against Big 12 opponents. Against TCU, Wade shot 10-14 for 24 points and added 5 rebounds and 4 assists. The 6’10” forward then recorded 25 points and 7 rebounds in a win over Baylor. Wade has been the anchor for this Wildcat team all season and was rewarded by being named to the All-Big 12 First Team.

Jalen BrunsonJalen BrunsonJalen Brunson just keeps further cementing his status as frontrunner for the Wooden Award to the best player in the country. While there are a couple other players in the running, Brunson enjoys the luxury and has the advantage of having his team near the top of the national rankings.
