NCAA Power 16 Rankings

In what was, to be blunt, a boring week in college basketball, not much really happened. Monday through Thursday consisted of zero ranked teams in action and it wasn’t until Friday that we saw some big-name schools back on the hardwood. However, fans won’t be disappointed for long as conference play tips-off midway through next week.

The NBA is often described as a "make or miss" league, and that phrase can also be applied to the NBA draft. NBA front office positions seem to be in a constant state of flux, with a great deal of turnover among struggling teams. Making picks at the top of drafts devoid of a clear franchise talent can be a frustrating proposition. This year's draft is shaping up to be another arduous drill.

There is no Luka Doncic in the 2019 international draft class. Considering the fact Doncic is the best European prospect of the last 20 years (and possibly more) that is to be expected. That said, this year's class might be lacking a true franchise talent, but probably possesses more depth than last year's class.

The second season for NBA players is a crucial one, as players usually go in a couple of different directions. You usually either see continued development, or a sophomore slump. With Ben Simmons counted as a sophomore due to his rookie year injury, this class may have more than a few future all-stars. The top-5 players on this list were incredibly hard to differentiate, as each are having very solid sophomore seasons. Without further ado, here are the top-ten sophomores in the NBA, based on the season they are having this year.

Luke MayeLuke MayeConsidering this week saw a relatively low amount of games, there was not a great amount of movement in this week's Power 16. Gonzaga suffered their second straight loss which allowed some teams to move up a spot in the rankings.

North Carolina’s big win earned them a jump in the rankings which forced a few teams to drop despite winning.

This week in college basketball was filled with some big-time upsets, buzzer-beaters, and a lot of movement in our Power Rankings. The top spot in the land has changed once again and a few select teams continue to impress and move their way up the rankings. The bottom half of the rankings have been changing fairly drastically each week which has allowed reigning national champions, Villanova, to inch their way back towards the Power 16.

2018 Maui Invitational: Top Prospects

Each year the Maui Jim Maui Invitational provides arguably the best early season tournament, and that is especially true when a number of elite teams are involved, as was the case this year with Gonzaga, Duke and Auburn, all top 10 teams coming into the field. The event has a great track record of producing National Champions and long tournament runs, as a number of Maui Invitational winners have gone on to win the NCAA title, including Duke, UNC and UConn. It provides a unique opportunity for scouts to see teams and more importantly top prospects compete in a win or die format.
