THE BASICS

Weight: 230 pounds

Athletic achievement: He had led the Big Reds to a 22-1 record and a berth in the Class A regional final at the time of his selection. Davis averaged 19.2 points, 16.5 rebounds and 7.5 blocks per game while shooting 66 percent inside the arc through 23 games. He registered a triple-double in Muskegon’s 69-48 win over Forest Hills Central in the regional semifinals, racking up 22 points, 17 rebounds and 10 blocked shots. A Michigan Mr. Basketball finalist, Davis is a 2015 McDonald’s All-American Game selection and a 2015 Jordan Brand Classic game invitee.

Academic excellence: Davis has maintained a 3.07 GPA.

Exemplary character: He has volunteered locally on behalf of the YMCA and as a youth basketball coach in addition to delivering meals and supplies to the needy.

THE PRAISE

“Deyonta Davis is a great player with unlimited potential,” said Muskegon High head coach Keith Guy. “There is nothing that he can’t do on the basketball floor. He has the rare ability to impact a game from both ends of the floor and he is the best player that I ever coached.”

THE FUTURE: Davis has signed with Michigan State.
