Syracuse, N.Y. — Tyus Battle, one of the nation's coveted guards in the Class of 2016, includes Syracuse in his 11-school list of finalists.

But Gary Battle said no decisions on his son's college destination are imminent.

"We'll probably evaluate after his season is over," Gary Battle said. "We'll watch all the (college) games diligently over the course of the season."

Battle is being pursued by heavyweights Duke, Kentucky and Louisville in addition to a host of other schools. Mike Krzyzewski, accompanied by two of his assistant coaches, visited Battle on Monday. Battle has made unofficial visits to Syracuse, Kentucky and Duke.

He spent most of the past month recovering from a stress fracture in his foot. Gary Battle said Tyus injured the foot playing for USA Basketball last summer. When it continued to nag Tyus, the family sought medical help. That's when the stress fracture was discovered.

Gary Battle said his son, cleared to play on Dec. 3, needs to get into basketball shape. His Gill St. Bernard's team starts its season Dec. 19. Tyus Battle has been using the elliptical trainer and lifting weights during his relative inactivity (he's 6-foot-6 and now weighs 205). He's also been shooting the basketball.

Gary Battle reports that Tyus sank 117 3-point shots in 17 minutes on Tuesday. That, said Battle, has been an area of significant improvement for Tyus, who had been "inconsistent" from beyond the arc. Gary Battle said his son worked primarily on his balance to improve his stroke.

"He's shooting the heck out of it," Gary Battle said.
