The Ascenders have only one returning player, but the newcomers more than make up for that.

Start with 6-3 senior G Trevon Duval, who averaged 17 points a game at Advanced Prep International (Dallas) and is considered the No. 5 player in the 2017 class.

Junior 6-8 F Silvio DeSousa averaged 14 points and eight rebounds last season at Montverde (Fla.) Academy and is considered the No. 6 player in his class while senior 6-8 F Isaiah Stokes, the younger brother of NBA player Jarnell Stokes, averaged 17 points a game at Lausanne Collegiate Prep (Memphis, Tenn.). He was considered more of a football recruit but after trimming his 6-8 frame from 310 to 250, he’s now being sought by major programs in basketball. Junior Emmitt Williams, a 6-7 power forward, is ranked among the top 50 players nationally in the class.

Norview (Norfolk) transfer Keyontae Johnson, a 6-4 junior W, averaged 15 points, seven rebounds and four assists as a sophomore last season.
