Southern Section basketball roundup: Pacific Hills survives desperation shot

In a second-round Division 4AA playoff game on Friday night, Gabe Rishwain of Sherman Oaks Notre Dame pulled off the shot of the night, heaving a desperation three-point attempt from just beyond the opponents’ free-throw line (65 feet) to send the game into overtime.

But Pacific Hills won in overtime, 58-56. Namon Wright scored 25 points and Andre Ferguson had 20 points for Pacific Hills. Harvard-Westlake defeated Maranatha, 98-96, in overtime. Derick Newton scored 34 points, Michael Sheng had 26 points and Alex Copeland had 24. Crespi defeated Valley Christian, 57-37. Mitch Mykhaylov had 19 points and 14 rebounds.

In 4A, Windward defeated Rolling Hills Prep, 74-52. Breland Brandt contributed 33 points and 14 rebounds. Price defeated St. Bonaventure, 67-47. James Washington scored 18 points and Roderick Williams 17. Brentwood defeated St. Monica, 76-41. Tra Holder had 24 points and Maxwell Kupchak 19. Village Christian defeated St. Joseph, 70-33. Bryan Alberts had 18 points and Bear Henderson 15.

Buckley defeated Paraclete, 47-31.

Aaron Holiday scored 38 points in Campbell Hall’s 77-56 win over St. Bernard.

In 1A, Alemany defeated Alhambra, 74-44. Daron Henson had 18 points and Gary Chivichyan added 17 points. Royal defeated Camaraillo, 60-57. Sebastian Gahito had 22 points. Lawndale defeated Miller, 65-50. Chimezie Metu had 15 points and 12 rebound. Brodericks Jones had 14 points and 14 rebounds.

In 1AA, Orange Lutheran defeated Crescenta Valley, 59-49. Rogers Printup scored 19 points. Trabuco Hills defeated Corona, 63-53. Brandon Fagins scored 15 points and had 11 rebounds. Aaron Harris had 17 points. Rancho Cucamonga defeated Montclair, 108-62. Victor Joseph scored 18 points. Los Osos defeated Walnut, 75-73. Cal State Fullerton-bound Jamar Akoh had 23 points and 18 rebounds. Tide Osifeso added 18 points.

In 2AA, Westlake defeated Rowland, 65-40. Jeremiah Gray had 16 points and Michael Hayon 14.

Newbury Park defeated Buena, 66-49. Tyler Cartaino scored 19 points. In 2A, Calabasas knocked off Norco, 77-47. Jeremy Lieberman and Larry Bush each scored 16 points.

Hart defeated Beckman, 92-61. Lewis Stallworth scored 25 points.
