South Carolina has suspended leading scorer Sindarius Thornwell for a "violation of athletic department policy," the school announced Sunday.

Thornwell is averaging 18.7 points, 6.7 rebounds and 4.1 assists for the Gamecocks, who are undefeated and ranked 20th in the AP poll, 23rd in the coaches poll and 20th in the updated CBS Sports Top 25 (and one). The 6-foot-5 junior scored 21 points in South Carolina's win over Michigan and 16 in a win over Syracuse.

South Carolina plays Seton Hall on Dec. 12.
