COLUMBIA – South Carolina men’s basketball coach Frank Martin picked up his first commitment of the 2016 recruiting class when Sedee Keita joined the Gamecocks

Keita, a 6-10, 225, power forward is rated the 78th overall recruit in the 2016 class by ESPN. He committed to the Gamecocks over offers from LSU, Providence, Temple, Penn State, UNLV, Clemson, Georgetown and others.

After competing at Putnam Science Academy in Putnam, Conn., Keita is now enrolled at 22 Feet Academy in Greenville.

USC has two more available scholarships and is after several highly regarded athletes with five-star forward Dewan Huell (6-9, 230) of Miami and Columbia guard Seventh Woods (6-1, 185), who competes at Hammond Academy, at the top of the wish list.

Huell, rated the nation’s 21st best recruit by ESPN, is choosing between USC, Miami, Florida State and South Florida.

Woods, rated the 53rd best recruit by ESPN, has narrowed his list to the Gamecocks, Georgetown and UNC.

He is expected to make his decision known on November 11th, the first day of the early signing period.
