NBA Comparison: Tayshaun Prince/Marcus Vieira

Joshua Motenko – 5/19/2006

Strengths: Douglas is a tall player with excellent all around skills and a gigantic wingspan. He has the longest arms I`ve ever seen, and this makes him extremely disruptive defensively. He has nice overall athleticism, is a good leaper, and great shot blocker. He alters shots and intimidates so easily because of his length. Douglas has the parimeter skills to play the 3. He gets up and down the floor like a guard, and has deceptively quick feet for a player his size. His handle is not great, but he can get to the basket with few dribbles and like Tayshaun, his long arms enable him to score on dunks and layups before the defenders realize he’s close enough to the basket to do so. On top of all of this, Douglas is a good passer.

Weaknesses: He needs to improve his shooting form and consistency, but this is not his biggest weakness. He has the type of skills that will look very good in workouts, but don’t necessarily translate to production on the floor, mainly because of weight and strength concerns. He has a body identical to Tayshaun Prince, including very high shoulders, a very thin frame, and incredibly long arms. He is very soft, and gets pushed around easily. Despite his length, he is not a good rebounder. He is athletic, but is a bit slow gathering himself and getting off the floor. Douglas plays on the same front line as Andre Felipe Aidar, and his coach has him playing center because of his unbelievable wingspan. He clearly isn`t strong enough to play in the post, even in his current league. It’s doubtful that he can add significant weight: Douglas will have many skeptics until he can.
