Matthew Maurer – 3/10/2007

Strengths: Alexander is a solid athlete blessed with good quickness and leaping ability Possesses three point range on his shot Is one of those players who if he gets his confidence going early on, he can be a load A streak scorer capable of putting big points up in a hurry … Moves very well without the ball in his hands Excellent rebounder for his position due to his long arms and athleticism Possesses good body strength and body control to make some impressive finishes Defensively Alexander has all the physical gifts to be a stand out defensive player Has excellent lateral quickness, wingspan and competitiveness to win Despite being a 5th year senior he has potential left to develop Does an admirable job of drawing fouls from opposing defenders Has developed into a much more mature player off the court than when he was at Oklahoma

Weaknesses: Notoriously streaky shooter who goes through extreme hot/cold spells Shot selection leaves a lot to be desired. Too often Alexander will try shots with a high degree of difficulty such as off balanced shots Ball handling will need to be refined as he doesnt always protect the ball well when heavy pressure is applied Strangely Alexander doesnt utilize the mid-range shot as well as he could Doesnt do a good job of attacking the basket, often he will settle for jumpers Defensively he lacks intensity when defending his man Will need to improve his footwork and anticipation skills Basketball IQ is questionable as he is prone to making mental mistakes Single minded on offense, doesn’t look to for his teammates as often as he should and fails to create for others Doesnt always dominate like one would expect with his talent level Has struggled with consistency in every part of his game this past season Might be closer to 6-4 than the 6-5 he’s listed at, but his wingspan helps to make up for it to an extent …
