NBA Comparison: Jason Caffey

Aran Smith – 6/6/2007

Strengths: A four man with excellent size, strength and experience having played in the ACC. Has a decent understanding of how to play in the post after four years at Virginia Tech. A solid athlete, runs the floor well, has decent foot speed and can get off the floor pretty well Uses his long arms well to grab rebounds Doesnt do anything outstanding, but has the size and athletic ability to play in the league Had a big performance at the 2007 Orlando Predraft camp, as the camps leading scorer … has a solid turnaround hook shot

Weaknesses: Completely fell apart in his senior season. Many expected big things from him in his senior year, but personal issues (his father passing away) and injuries took away from his season Some question his mental toughness Averaged just 24 minutes per contest and only 7.8 ppg, down from 14.5 the year before Needs to get tougher. He has the ability but should grab more rebounds than he does An average free throw shooter at just under 70% … Lacks great touch around the basket … Shoots at a very low percentage from the field for a post player Post moves, while solid are not stand out
