The Cleveland Cavaliers have continued their offseason remodeling by signing restricted free agent Jamario Moon to an offer sheet, according to NBA front-office sources.
ESPN Insider has the updated buzz from the National Basketball Association rumor mill.
Although the full details of the offer sheet are unlikely to be known until Monday, when the contract is submitted to the league office, sources told ESPN.com that the deal Moon signed Friday spans at least two years.
The Miami Heat will have seven days to match the offer once it's formally processed, but Cleveland would appear to have a good chance of landing Moon given Miami's well-chronicled desire to avoid new contracts longer than one year to protect its 2010 salary-cap space.
There are exceptions to that policy, as evidenced by Miami's well-chronicled attempts to sign Lamar Odom away from the Los Angeles Lakers. The Heat, though, have multiple players at Moon's position -- Daequan Cook, James Jones and Yakhouba Diawara -- even if they don't land Odom, raising doubts about their ability to keep him.
After trading for Shaquille O'Neal and signing Anthony Parker to take their payroll beyond the $80 million mark, Cleveland has spent the past week looking for free-agent bargains as it tries to add depth at the wing positions and find a power forward that can stretch the floor with his jumper. The Cavs had been linked in recent days to forwards such as Rob Kurz and Sean May before signing Moon.
When Is Cleveland gonna get LBJ a legit #2?
They just signed anthony parker and have delonte west
Again- When Will they get LBJ a legit #2.......
Are you serious Anthony parker is a SG that can play good defense and shot 45% from 3 point land last year........he also brings that veteran leadership
I think he means a second scoring option. Not a SG. Someone like they said Williams was going to be. A guy who doesnt stand around and watch LBJ.
they need a 4 that is mobile to matchup with Reshard. Is Kurz really the guy. I think Jawad Williams could suprise people this year.
Williams Actually Did good last season and the cavs would have not been any were they were with out him.......he is there 2nd scoring option, not to mention Delonte is probably the 3rd, they just really need a good Power Forward
I hate how Cavs Fans or so Called "Cav Fans" Throw their team under the bus when they lose the conference finals......saying that they have no team, not to mention they won 60 something games last year....Excuses and going to bail you out
I do not like Williams...he's more of a 3rd option. I watched the Orlando-Cleveland Series and Rafer Alston took Williams to town every game
Anthony Parker....come on now a #2 option?
I am not a fan of any team in particular, however, i think the Cavs, the C's, and the Magic are going to be the teams to beat. lol I know thats not some brilliant analysis but if these teams hadnt made some huge moves in the off season, such as the Cavs getting a second scoring option in Deisel, they would have to fight to get where they are. That being said, they Cavs have a second scoring option for a year....
Williams Choked!!! The dude never even made the play-off before last season, So much pressure was on the guy, he proved to be a legit #2 during the season......he is a legit #2, he just messed up
the playoffs is when it counts. Mo and Delonte struggled
Mo Williams is not a second option period.
they got moon to guard lewis 6'9 extremely long
Well Who Proved to be a scoring option during the season......he averaged 16 ppg, if averaging more than that doesn't make you a 2nd scoring option, then what does?
No...He's a legit #3 option.
What Cleveland is doing is not that bad because there are still a lot of bargains out there. Parker and Moon were solid starters. They may not be true number two options but people forget how much Shaq opens the games for shooters and cutters. If Shaq plays like he did last season even not playing like the old Shaq he is a number two option and can get open shots for a lot of players. Very few team in the East have someone strong enough to stop Shaq so they may double team and Shaq can still pass very well. Lebron does not have to be the focal of the offense as much now because the team can play through Shaq on some plays.
OK...Who thinks Cleveland is winning the Title next year?
I dont think that Williams will be a good second option because he is a point guard. PGs are suppose to be distributers. The Cavs wont win a title untill they have another scorer. Preferbaly someone who can slash and create his own shot. Shaq may help them get to the finals but ultimatly, i think they will lose. I hope im wrong because i want LBJ to get his.
I agree with Knicksboy34. Lebron needs like a michael Redd 20 plus scorer for a 2nd option. That is what a number 2 is. Shaq average 27 while Kobe average 25. Jordan average 32 while pippen gets 22. That is 1st and 2nd option scoring right there. Wade average 27 while Shaq averages 20. 1 and 2. Mo Williams come on. Not the caliber of those number two's. The number two can brake down the D or commanmd a double team.
That is all i was saying Mo Williams is a solid and talented player but he not a legit 2nd option yet. I think he could possibly get there but it depends on if Coach Brown opens up his offense.
