Bucks v. Raptors

Jodie Meeks is a great offensive player. Sure, he isnt going to break ankles and get to the rim at will, but he is good with both hands taking 1 or 2 dribbles and pulling up. He has a really good looking jump shot. His jumper sets up everything he does offensively, and his pump fake out of the triple threat gives him space to go to work and either pull up or layup if he gets to the rim. He just needs to be a more well-rounded player, and play a little bit of defense. Derozan slipped backdoor on him alot, and finished usually. He is a good 2nd team instant offense player now, but he could be a starter in time and a good 2nd or 3rd option option on a contender if he gets more well-rounded. He shouldve been a 1st rounder.

Joe Alexander is alot like Chase Budinger from what I saw today. I've honestly seen him only 1 time before this, but he is athletic. He moves good without the ball like Budinger too. He is a good mid range player, but he is not polished yet, and needs to work on his handle as well. Even though he is an athletic player usually, he isnt quick and plays stiff. He is slow on defense on the ball, but he did make a nice block where he climbed the ladder and pinned Smush Parker's ball on the glass. Nasty stuff. He is very unpolished and seems to be a player you may have to wait a while with before he consistently contribute.

Amir Johnson is still raw after all this time. He is an NBA player, but barely. He could be soo much better than he is. He looks good running and jumping, but he looks confused about where to be on the floor sometimes. He is a backup player right now, but the light may come on after while and he could be a good player if it does.

Brandon Jennings was a turnover machine this game. He made 1 or 2 nice passes early, and then started forcing it. He has a special ability to change directions at full speed, which is impressive because his full speed is super fast. He has nasty handles too, but he is left-hand dominate from what I saw. I think Smush picked up on that, too and was always there before Jennings was. He got to the rim alot, but he settled for jumpers because Smush cut off his left hand. Gotta work on that. He also needs to work on his jumper. He is a starter caliber PG, and has flair, but he has to make the right plays more often.

Uh, I wanted Salim Stoudamire and Mbah a Moute to play. But they didnt for whatever reason.

Toronto

Derozan still has that mid range spot up thing going, except he only made 1 or 2 today. He is better the closer he plays to the rim. He is especially good on backdoors and will dunk it home on you, just ask Amir Johnson. Yes, he got the business. Still showed that same weak handle and low basketball IQ though. He also couldnt cover Meeks because he got caught in screens, and Meeks over course, made him pay usually. Like I said yesterday, needs to get alot better if he wants to start opening night.

Quincy Douby actually ran the PG as a backup today instead of off-the-ball. He wasnt all that efficient from what I saw and he took some bad shots off the dribble and missed, but all in all he made plays for his teammates today. He ran the pick and roll great and fed the cutters perfect. I think he definitely is an NBA player, especially if he shows PG skills like he did today.

Smush Parker gets kudos for how he guarded Jennings. He made him beat him with his right hand, which was a good idea. He was a jump shooter and slasher on offense, but he did great getting contact on drives and finished them sometimes. He had a horrible shooting game though. He may make a team as a 3rd PG, but he will have to fight.

Patrick O'Bryant got all the important rebounds at the end. He still needs more polish and strength before he becomes a true NBA level big man though. He will make a roster though because of his potential though.

This was an exciting game, came down to the wire.

Jodie Meeks is in a good

Jodie Meeks is in a good situation behind Michael Redd, If he develops a better defensive game, even just an average one, he can be a starter in this league for years to come..

I completely agree

He impressed me alot. He is a better athlete than I thought. I think he can be not only a starter, but one that plays at a high level.

i don't think the raptors

i don't think the raptors are expecting derozan to be a starter by the start of the season though it would be nice to see if he can improve enough to be a starter. it's nice to see that he'll dunk for the raptors, unlike another player...

My question though

I keep bringing that up because I dont know who the other 2-guards they have on there roster are. I assumed they thought Derozan was there starter so they werent going after anyone else for his spot, which would be a bad idea.

raptors starting shooting guard...

raptors starting shooting guard is going to be either a. wright (the former dallas starting 2) or c. delfino when they sign him with j. jack seeing some minutes there along with d. derozan.. so all in all the raptors will be fine at that position looking mostly for solid defensive effort from that spot
