Im gonna go with the Pistons. Now they are a very valuable team.
Stuckey-Hamilton-Prince-Charlie V- Brown.....
You have Prince and Hamiton as chip to add future picks and players.
Daye and Summers are looking impressive in Summer League
I think a top 5 playoff seed in a good range for them.
San antonio, washington, toronto, thunder, clippers, lakers, cleveland
i say the lakers, spurs, mavs, grizzlies, boston, orlando, toronto, washington, GS, OKC,Clippers, kings
To me boston got older and especially if they lose davis. Sheed isn't as big of a pick up to me. Mavs just signed Kidd to a huge deal so they f'd themselves there. Kings are still going to be bad. Adding Randolph was bad for memphis cuz he'll mess with the youth. GS did get better, I agree with you there grizz.
Spurs No Doubt......Well They did have the best off-season so far; Dejuan blair, antonio mcdyess, richard jefferson, and old squad .That is going to be a tought team to beat
SF) Richard Jefferson
PF) Antonio Mcdyess
C) Timmy D
id say the spurs lakers...i think finley comes off the bench though and mason starts...id say most of all the teams that drafted last high last year since all the rookies (gordan, mayo, westbrook, lopez, beasley, randolph etc will be a year older more experienced and better)..i think the lakers may have gotten a steal in morrision if he is confident and healthy..not saying hes gonna be a star but in his rookie year he didnt play that bad
The Clippers. I'm not saying they've "arrived" or will make the playoffs, but they've taken a huge steps considering their tortured past lol. I mean, they've drafted really well the last few years (Al Thornton, Eric Gordon, DeAndre Jordan, Mike Taylor and Blake Griffin) and found a way to get rid of Zach Randolph's contract/clear playing time for Griffin. They all of the sudden seem to be heading in the right direction and making good decisions. Of course there is still a lot of work to be done.
i agree tazo..and i dont think they can be that unlucky to have another season where just about every one got injured..if baron plays unselfish and no one gets injured as well as the other players play to there abilty they have a chance at that 8 spot
question...do the clippers play again in the summer league..i dont see any more games for them on the schedule..from now to the 19th
I believe the Clippers play tonight.
Draft alone OKC made a step forward, James Harden will fit in great with that system and core of young players and although Mullins is a project he played ok in Summer League and will provide them good mintues as a backup center this year. With the improvement of Kevin Durant, Russell Westbrook, and Jeff Green with those two draft additions the Thunder seem to have made a stride forward
I agree about the clippers, especially if they get A.I as well. They are apparently talking to him, but yet again A.I has talked to Charlotte and Memphis as well. So if they do pick up A.I, they will have taken a good stride forward
bj mullans played ok for one game but played horrible the next 2..what does that tell you?..the same thing thats been said..hes raw has potenial but its gonna take him time..hes on the fence..one of those coul dbe real good but could also not realize his potenial and end up being a bust
I think Mullens is a bust. The Thunder did take a step forward though by drafting Harden. It was stupid to trade for Vaden though but overall they have been smart by not spending any cash this offseason.
Yeah, i mean you can't count on Mullins for a lot this year, but at least he's big has 6 fouls to give and could possibly improve, I agree Harden is the gem of that draft for them, but all their 2nd and 3rd year players are real solid and their improvement with the addition of Harden is definitely a step forward
who did they trade for vaden anyway?..i think its good to have him sice i cant think of what other back up or thhird string guard that can shoot..all i can think of is k.weaver and he isnt that good of a shooter
I think they gave some cash & a future 2nd round pick for Vaden (not sure though). IMO Weaver & Sefolosha are a lot better than Vaden.
yeah they are better players but better shooters?..it never hurts to have a guy who can go in and knock down the 3
Yeah Vaden is a better shooter than them but he also takes a lot of bad shots & doesn't shoot a very high %. Also Vaden is slow & doesn't defend well. I don't think he can help an nba team at all.
he had to take bad shots as well as good ones for his team..hes obviously not as bad as you may think or else he never would have gotten signed. he does something that okc think will help them
The Clippers play at 10:30 vs New Orleans. Gordon vs Thornton should be an entertaining matchup.
Thats a good point...he did have to shoot a lot in college....he didn't have many scorers around him. Has he signed with the Thunder yet?
weaver and sefolosha are both defensive players. thabo can play SF to so he give the thunder some versatility.
tezo83...yep that will be entertaining. How good of a defender is Gordon? I really haven't watched him play much since he got in the nba. All I know is Thornton is quick & can really handle the ball. Thornton can score a ton. He can shoot but also get to the rim pretty easy.
By the way... Don't sleep on Robert Vaden. He's from Indianapolis, so I know his game VERY well. I've played with/against him plenty of times. He's not very athletic, but he has a high IQ, competitive and can shoot the ball. He has an old man's game.
Gordon is a very good defender for his age. He has great lower/upper body strength, decent awareness, long arms and great anticipation. He's not as pesky/live wire as Westbrook (doesn't gamble/take risks as much), but he's very sound. He's hard to post, he can block shots and he plays the passing lanes pretty well. He's also competitive and has pride on defense. He guarded the other teams best guard (point guards and shooting guards) 95% of the time last season.
I'd give Westbrook the edge defensively at this point because he has quicker foot speed and using his arms more (to get deflections and deny entry passes).
It should be REAL interesting versus Thornton tonight.
If Gordon can hold Thornton to under 18pts or so then I say he did he a good job. Ha the thing is most of the time Thronton doesn't play that great of defense so Gordon could go off tonight. I wouldn't be surprised if Gordon scored 25 to 30 points.
Yeah I've seen Vaden play a ton myself...I just don't see him as an nba player. I'm certainly not rooting against him though.
lol..yea vaden does have a old man game hes a lil more athletic now that he lost some weight...you know what im not sure if they have signed him or not..good question..yeah the clippers guard match ups should be good..actually darren collins is playing pretty well so far..doesnt suprise me though
yeah collison did look pretty solid last game that I watched
Also yall need to watch the Spurs play...I'm not sure when they play next but George Hill is real good. Also Blair still looks like a steal. McClinton has been very disappointing so far though.
Imma do a report on the spurs nuggets game
YES George Hill is a beast... I've been saying this all along. Another Indianapolis guy, so I can vouch. I got to watch him train with Eric Gordon a few times this summer. Hill will be a starting point guard in this league one day. He has a chance to be really special defensively.
I think he should be starting now if he wasn't stuck behind Parker. Anyways the Spurs have a great backup PG that is for sure. He was clearly the best player on the floor the other night when the Spurs played the Hornets in summer league. That was a fun game to watch.
