Pacers
You would think the Hoosier state would have mad fans posting on here, but apparently not. Here is my All-Time Pacers team:
C Jermaine O'Neal
PF George McGinnis
SF Chuck Person
SG Reggie Miller
PG Mark Jackson
PF Mel Daniels
SF Billy Knight
C Clark Kellogg
C Rik Smits
SG Roger Brown
SF Danny Granger
SF Ron Artest
PG Freddie Lewis

There are plenty of Pacers fans out there we jus have some other blog pages that we spend most of our time on already.
Not a bad all-star Pacers squad you assembled there. Here is mine:
PG - Mark Jackson, Freddie Lewis,
SG - Reggie Miller, Roger Brown
SF - Chuck Person, Jalen Rose, Danny Granger, Derrick McKey
PF - Jermaine O'Neal, Antonio Davis, Mel Daniels
C - Rick Smits, Jeff Foster, Dale Davis, Clark Kellog
(Artest was and is a great player but I cant include the guy who initiated the brawl that likely costed Reggie his ring)
What are your thoughts on what types of players Indiana should target in the draft? I def think Indiana should try to aquire another 1st rounder as well as move up a little in the 2nd round. Of course if it were possible to move up in the 1st round that would be great to but Im not sure they have a very good shot at doing so. As far as first rounders go I think we need to look at a PG (which most of the mocks seem to agree with) If we are able to get another 1st rounder I think we should invest in a project high risk high reward type of player ( BJ Mullens, James Johnson, Earl Clark) type of player or even take a chance on Tyler H. Lastly in the 2nd round I would like to see us pick up Dionte Christmas to help fill our void at SG while Dunleavy is out with injury.
With that said I think we should in Free Agency make a play at 1 or 2 bigs to fill out the rotation. Brandon Bass and Zaza Pachulia being my favs for this task. Others to consider are Channing Frye and Glen Davis. Lastly and def not least importantly we MUST get rid of Tinsley, whether it be trade or just buyin him out we need the roster space. Would give us a rotation of:
PG - Ford, Jack, Diener, (Holiday, Jennings, Maynor, Flynn, Rubio, Curry)
SG - Rush, Christmas, Dunleavy
SF - Granger, (either draft our other 1st rounder here or PF hopefully some1 who can play both)
PF - Murphy, Bass, McRoberts
C - Hibbert, Foster, Pachulia
C-Smits J. O'Neal S. Perkins
PF-McGinnis M. Daniels
SF-Mullin C.Person D. Granger
SG-Miller R. Brown
PG-M. Jackson M. Williams
Mascot-Boomer over Bowzer
Pacers need an impact-now player after too many wasted drafts (Shawne Williams, James Jones, Jonathan Bender)
How about G. Lawal of Georgia Tech
No European big men in the second round, I beg of you (How'd Stanko Barac turn out?)
Can play both forwards
Very versatile-can shoot 3's and block shots
I like the idea of him falling to us which some mocks have shown. gives us a dynamic 2 guard with a little point guard ability. If not I say we go the james johnson route or trade up. I am worried about the mock on this site showing Dejuan Blair, yes hes a beast, but we need some better athletes on our front line.
I just saw Larry Bird's press conference about the draft. He said that he really likes 4 players. He also said he prefers experienced guys over potential.
Here's the kicker though. At the very end of the press conference he was asked about experience vs. potential. He said and I quote, "If I have the chance to take a 3 or 4 year player I will!"
Now, they clearly need a PG or a Big-man. Of the guys they worked out, Eric Maynor, Ty Lawson, James Johnson and Tyler Hansbrough have the most experience.
I'm willing to bet those are the 4 guys he is looking at drafting. In other words, they are passing on DeJuan Blair. It's just a hunch on my part, but I'm confident I figured out his 4 guys. My guess is Eric Maynor or Tyler Hansbrough.
Hansbrough looks like a good pick. Would've been happy with Lawson as well. Hope we get a PG in the next draft or at least trade for one. (Ray Felton anyone?)
