Would the Wizards pass on rubio at # 2 because of arenas?
I think they would look over him. They have quite a few PG's on the roster including Javaris Crittenton...They would probably take Thabeet to give them depth in the front court in case Haywood goes down again. However, I wouldn't be suprised if they traded out of the pick because of their cap problems.
Considering Rubio's size (6'6"), and Arenas's lack of true "play-making" ability (some driving and dishing is the extent of it), it would be very interesting to see Rubio and arenas switch off at the point on offense, since both are good shooters capable of opening up the lanes (though, rubio would need to get used to the NBA three pt. line). Rubio could then guard the weaker of the wings, with caron butler taking the stronger, and arenas guarding the point. Rubio is definitely an upgrade over mr. 50, but the development of Nick Young has to be taken into consideration.
All things considered, they better be praying in D.C. for the number 1 pick, because Blake Griffin would be a god send for this team.
Rubio is not 6 6,lets be real guy. They dont need a point guard, they need a Center, still. They used a lotto pick on McGee but he isnt going to be the answer so they need to take Griffin or Thabeet or Hill or some1. They need the best big man available and its probably going to be Thabeet even though he wont be a good NBA player I think thats who they are going to draft.
Even if Rubio does not have the size to play the 2, this kid was still the top 3-pt shooter in Spain and defensive player of the year, with 2.1 steals, and 6.3 assists, while averaging 21 minutes a game and an injured wrist. The wizards have a better chance of drafting him, and trading him for a legitimate big man, than actually developing Thabeet into one. Thabeet will be between a Diop Desagana and Dikembe Mutumbo.
I think you have to take the chance of drafting Thabeet, to much money put into Arenas, and there is not a team in the league that would take a trade to get him. I cant see Blake Griffin on this team just wouldnt fit.
I also think that Nick Young is slowly turning into a steady playmaker, so no need to go after Rubio unless it is to trade him away.
The Wizards would not draft Hasheem Thabeet. They already have a young developing center in Javale Mcgee, who has WAY more potential than Thabeet. Mcgee actually has an offensive game and decent touch. He could develop into a really nice player.

Would they?
