Blake Griffin's Height
i agree, i have even heard some say he is 6'10, i don't believe it. regardless, i have always felt he compares nicely with charles barkley so size will not be an issue with him. but i would not be surprised if he turns out to be closer to 6'7 than 6'9
I'm not worried. At worse he's 6'8 and a quarter to 6'8 and a half w/o shoes. Which would bring him to over 6'9 with shoes. Regardless he's the number one pick. Made a great decision to stay for his sophomore year. It allowed us as fan, scouts and evaluators to see how dominate and productive he could be at the collegiate level. It also let him know how good he could be since at times he was hurt and couldn't produce in some games and really looked like a freshman out there.
Yeah, his brother Taylor is listed at 6'7'' and is probably closer 6'6'', and when they stand next to eachother Blake looks 2 or 3 inches taller. Blake's probably a flat 6'9'' but he's so buff and muscular he can get away with 6'10''.
(Yeah he's definitly taller that Beasely who's like 6'7'' and a half)
We don't know these guys true height anymore. But I highly doubt that he is taller than Mike Beasley. Kevin Love and Mike was the same height with shoes off then when they put the shoes on, Love was a half of an inch taller... LOL.... But If I was to guess I would say 6'8 at best.
Beasley NEEVVER looked 6'9 or the sometimes 6'10 he was listed at. Griffin Isn't 6'10, im almost certain, but i think his brother is a legit 6'7 if not very close, he looks pretty big on the court and 6'6 is sg/sf height. He is definately taller than his brother, and Griffin is every bit big enough to play Power forward in the pro's and never be overmatched. People are trying so hard to poke holes in this kid, but he seems pretty bullet proof. My only, absolute only concern about him bieng better than Amare, is that he needs to get his ball skills and shot together, because he is too good an athlete to always play back to the bakset, bigs in the NBA are so bulked up they couldn't guard him off dribble ala AMARE.
Given his combination of explosiveness and strength, he could be an NBA superstar at 6-7 barefoot.
Carlos Boozer is 6-7 3/4 barefoot, Karl Malone probably about the same.
Beasley is 6-7 barefoot, but Blake is much more powerfully built.
What I like most about Blake is that he's has a mutt mentality to him -- he will fight and scrap, give up his body on defense.
First off Kevin Love was measured at 6-7 3/4 without shoes and 6-9 in shoes. Michael Beasley measured in at 6-7 without ahoes and 6-8 in shoes. Love was almost a full inch taller in socks so to say that they measured the same without shoes is inaccurate. With that being said I would say that Blake is at least 6-9 in shoes, which is all that matters anyway because the game is played in shoes. The more important factor is his wingspan and standing reac, the length is what counts the most.
Kevin Love is 6'7.75" w/o shoes.
Michael Beasley is 6'7" w/o shoes.
I think Blake Griffin is 6'7.5" w/o shoes.
If Griffin was taller, he'd be blocking more shots in college, but Grififn blocks fewer shots (1.3bpg) per game than Beasley (1.6bpg) and Love (1.4bpg) in college.
i thought when he matched up with Carolina's Ed Davis, Griffin looked to be giving up a good 2 inches. i think he's likely 6'8 barefoot. & whats the deal with measuring guys in shoes? is there a standard shoe they all wear for the measurement? personally, i dont understand the point in that measurement. their height on the court would be determined by what shoes they play in anyway. why dont you take their weight in full uniform while you're at it?!!
Has anyone seen this guy in person, I would like to know how tall he truly is, I think he deserves to be the number 1 pick in the draft and I don't want his potential to be questioned based on height. I think he's legit 6-9 but their are people who say 6-7 which really scares me because he's a power forward. He's a top five pick regardless but it just seems that so much emphasis is put into height these days.
