When people talk about Ricky Rubio, The part they always leave out

I've loved watching this kid play since he was on the map and i think theres one aspect of Ricky's game that everyone leaves out.

The kid plays great defense. he's pesky as hell and he doesnt seem to get enough credit for it. People say he's not strong enough and he's not a great on ball defender,

but

he does exactly what Rajon Rondo does in the respect that he plays great defense from behind players as well as disrupting their dribble from on the ball.

I dont know if everyone has forgotten the summer olympics in Beijing. I watched all of his games and what impressed me most is against the US he went toe to toe with J-Kidd CP3 and D-Will and held his own against all of them. I specifically remember a couple of on ball rips agaisnt Paul and Kidd, a thing that doesnt happen much in the league. They didnt even outplay him in the game overall.

Im pretty sure he helped ice a game by getting some last minute steals in the 4th quarter in a game there as well.

point is, how many players are there in the league who play the passing lanes and have the ability to rip ballhandlers the way rubio does?

not many.

How many of them are 6'5" with a wingspan somewhere around 6'9"? even fewer.

Also he might get a knock for being unathletic but if you watch him, he's always one of the fastest players on the floor. He looked especially fast today in their playoff game.

this kid is going to be special

i remember hearing a story

i remember hearing a story about rubio stealing the ball from a kid around nine times in a row before the other kid could even get past half court when he was younger. I remember reading that the other kid started crying when he left the floor. I'll try to find a link to it.

Sheesh. Eight times in a row?

Sheesh. Eight times in a row? You gotta get that leg out there to protect the ball, kid. Either that, or pass it.

There is an interview on a

There is an interview on a Russian news site with new Timberwolves Asst. GM Tony Ronzone where he stated Nikola Pekovic would be coming over next season, Kevin Love will be traded, Darko resigned, and Rubio possibly coming over this upcoming season if Barca wins the championship. Don't know how much credibility there is to it, those Euro news agencies almost always tend to overstate sports rumors.

Barca elections will be in

Barca elections will be in June 13th or something like that
there will be new president as Laporta can't be the president more than he did
so any talking about Rubio coming next season is a joke because we don't even know who are the decision makers yet

Yea I don't see Rubio coming

Yea I don't see Rubio coming over until the 2011-2012 season. And I am almost certain that when that happens, he will be wearing a T-Wolves jersey. Kahn has a man crush.

I would trade Bynum for Rubio

I would trade Bynum for Rubio in a New York minute, and you should never trade a big for a small
