Sofoklis Schortsanitis (Big Sofo) Will Sign With The Clippers
Just reported in Greece, Big Sofo will sign a 3 year guaranteed contract with the Clippers worth $8 million.
So all the idiots here that said he could not play in the NBA and "would never get an NBA contract" or that "if he did it would be a summer league contract and nothing more", and that said "if he was good he would already be in the NBA" can now STFU.
You don't have the slightest clue about European basketball and you really do a big disservice to this forum with all the ignorant things you post about European players and European basketball. Consider yourselves owned thoroughly.
"The 24-year-old center was drafted 34th in the 2003 by Los Angeles Clippers, which still own his NBA rights.
Sofoklis Schortsanitis, who is at the end of his contract with the Greek team Olympiakos, is considering to move to the United States to play in the NBA. The 24-year-old center was drafted 34th in the 2003 by Los Angeles Clippers, which still own his NBA rights. Schortsanitis is open to practice with the Clippers this summer to evaluate his incorporation to the Californian franchise"
Thats called a summer league invite..theres nothing about a contract...but i hope he does get signed just so you wont make anymore posts about him
Your'e really IN LOVE with this sofo guy,
i see at youtube he's pretty good, and all
but the nba's different
If he makes a roster, thats good.
If he dont, well everybody was right about telling you that
he's not good enuf for the nBA
owned thoroughly by his 2ppg 2rpg 3 fouls in 7 mpg IF he gets a spot..
McDunkin WTF are you talking about? This is a new story. Just today in Greek press he is going to the Clippers for 3 years $8 million. Why the hell are you citing an old story? Let me guess...........the world revolves around only English speaking press in your limited world paradigm.
What is this "if he makes the roster" crap? He has a 3 year guaranteed contract for $8 million from the Clippers. His agent already said it.
And this "NBA is different it is so much better" crap is just hilarious. Everyone that has even a shred of basketball 101 knowledge knows that defense in the Euroleague is 10 times harder than any defense played in the NBA.
First of all, free agency has not started yet so he could not sign while still under contract with Olympiakos. Second, he has a Final Four game today, so I highly doubt that there is any sort of real negotiations that have been taking place that have gone beyond typical agent and team conversing.
His agent and him already said it. The Clippers will sign him as soon as free agency begins. The notion that he will "not make the roster" with a 3 year guaranteed $8 million contract is unbelievably and insanely stupid. Even for NBA fans.
Wll since its an "English speaking" team thats signing him do you have any "English speaking press" that confirms this?
Bcause i sure cant find any.
If he said it, you can provide a link. That great little thing called google translate makes reading Greek websites rather easy. That is to say, you are not making this up. It isn't on the Euroleague website, the Olympiakos website, or Kathimerini.
Apparently his agent has said it.
Regardless, noone will probably want to sit next to his dirty smelly European ass in the lockerroom. I'm 95% sure they haven't discovered showers yet. Or what soap is. Or what "clean clothes" are.
Plus he's black European, so that barely counts.
That is nice SpencerIsHawesome2. Just in case you didn't come off as a douchey bigot in your first post, you doubled down to leave no doubt with a second one.
If you give me negative points, you are anti-american
Big Sofo... Is that you?
I've read that the Clippers are thinking about bringing him over next season, but nothing about a deal being offered. I have a hard time believing that signing him to a contract this summer is first priority. Post the link.
On another note... The Final Four will be televised on NBATV today.
Barcelona vs. CSK Moscow at 3 PM
Olympiacos vs. Partizan at 5 PM
Both should be great games.
That is the other thing. Donald Sterling wants to wine and dine the max free agent stars in July. If they are going to give Schortsanitis $2-3 million next season they will not have space to sign a max guy. It is entirely possible, if not, that those in the Clippers front office are operating on the assumption they won't get any and are talking to the agent of Sofo to help them look at their real game plan for the offseason. I just don't think there is a deal in place, and that unless I see a link with names and quotes I won't believe it.
I don't know how Sofo signing a contract would result in all of us who doubt his impact in the NBA being owned. Wait til he plays a game before you start talking crap. A list of players who have had NBA contracts.
Singing a contract isn't a big deal, lets see him play.
They'd be better off taking that $2-3 million and spending it towards re-signing Craig Smith or Drew Gooden, IF both players are open to returning.
I just highly doubt that they've offered Schortsanitis anything at this time.
Actually spencer hes from Cameroon so if i give you a point im anti-racist, not anti American. I actually found it very offensive that you picked on someone who probably didn't have clean water when he was growing up.
Hes is gonna be a good nba player. Hes big, but he runs the floor well, and has great hands, he can be a great post player like Nene imo even though i know negatives are coming.
He's still too overweight... He has conditioning issues. He's good for what? 10-15 minutes per game?
Revenger your right about his skills but at the same time so is Butlerbulldog, his effort in getting/staying in shape has been on and off over the years but mostly off. He could be able to put up some monster numbers in the Euroleague if only he could play more than spot minutes. Even if the Clippers do sign him would he be inspired to stay in shape when he gets over here? and would most likely be behind Kaman,Jordan, and Griffin?
If sofo comes over and the clippers are high on him do you think they could move on of their other centers in kaman or jordan?
I doubt that they move Kaman or Jordan. Still need a backup PF, and Sofo would fit the bill. However, I am hoping that they do trade Kaman for Igoudala/Dalembert. I think if the 76ers end up with Evan Turner or Wes Johnson, then they might be willing to do this trade. Clippers might have to throw in a pick though.
They wont sign him for more than 2 million for the year and thats all if he makes it through summer league and has an impressive debut.
He's gonna be the next Tractor Traylor. He has zero endurance. he prob still weighs close to 400 pounds. and he is closer to 6'8 than he is 6'9.
But goodluck to him. i hope he does well for himself.
That .gif is epic...
8 minutes into the first quarter and sofo is already showing how bad his stamina is. He is walking on offense and defense, and wont even jump for rebounds or roll after the pick
Watch this Vesely vs Childress matchup
Nice drop step by Vesely in the post. Nice footwork.

Big Sofo's agent says he is ready for the NBA
Sofoklis Shcortsanitis is in Paris now but in the back of his mind the Clippers await..
The agent of Sofoklis Schortsanitis(2.06-C), Warren LeGarie gave an interview to goalday.gr where he basically says that this is probably the right time for the Greek big man to make the next step in his career and play in the NBA.
LeGarie said that the Clippers are quite satisfied with Schortsanitis' progress both physically and mentally and he says that it is possible for Schortsanitis to get a contract of the order of 6-8 million dollars for 3 seasons. This is a contract of similar size to the one that Spanoulis got when he signed with Houston. Neil Olshey who is the new GM of the LA Clippers knows Schortanitis personally and that is a good thing for the possible transfer. LeGarie said that it's up to Schortsanitis at the moment.
The way is paved and its up to him whether he will walk it or not. He also said that Drazen Petrovic would have signed for Panathinaikos if it wasn't for his tragic accident.. I leave the comments up to you on this one. Schortsanitis has averaged 9.6 points and 3.3 rebounds so far for Olympiakos in 22 games of the regular season.
