Your Team USA

If you were Jerry Colangelo who would you select to play this summer excluding probable Free Agents

I would start at point
My 3
Deron Williams--He can lead, score and distribute
Derrick Rose-- Come in and change the pace
Stephen Curry-- proven player solid 3rd PG with 3's

Then I'd Get two Dominate wings
My 2
Carmelo Anthony-- the best player for Team USA the past few years
Kevin Durant-- He and Melo can outscore many starting fives

Two defenders
My 2
Thaddeus Young-- Has lenght and athleticism to change games
Josh Smith- solid post presence

Strong Frontline
My 2
Dwight Howard-- why not?
Lamarcus Aldridge-- the perfect 4/5 man

1 shooter
JJ Redick-- Elite 3pt threat

Instant Offense
OJ Mayo-- great scores off the bench

1 Big For depth
Javale McGee- Up and coming big in the league

Depth Chart
C- Dwight Howard- Javale McGee
F- Josh Smith- Lamarcus Aldridge
F- Carmelo Anthony- Thaddeus Young
G- Kevin Durant- OJ Mayo- JJ Redick
G- Deron Williams- Derrick Rose- Stephen Curry

PG - Deron, Paul, Rose SG -

PG - Deron, Paul, Rose
SG - Kobe, Roy
SF - Durant, Granger
PF - Carmelo, Bosh, Boozer
C - Howard, Lopez

Elite Points with lots of athleticism
Kobe and Roy both all around and Kobe takes care of the best wings on the other team
Durant and Granger both deadly outside shooters and offense
Melo with post ups, Bosh with hustle, and boozers been around and he never said anything even when he's not playin so no chemistry issue and when he plays good mid range jumpers
Howard with inside presnce (more defense) Lopez with inside presence (more offense)

I'm giving a negative

I'm giving a negative if you mention the name JJ Redick on a USA Team... He's not freakin' worthy to be there not to mention there are better shooters than that gay man...

My Team

This is what my team would be... No Wade or James because they haven't been commited, so they can suck it! Also, I would like to have the same team that won in 2008, but I'm going by the current 27 National Team Players (minus Wade and James).

PG: Deron Williams/Chris Paul/Derrick Rose -- Wanted to put Billups in there, but age concerns, you know... Wouldn't mind substituting Billups for Rose. Sorry Westbrook, but my preference is Rose. Honestly, if Kidd was still in it, I would have him as my starting point...

SG: Kobe Bryant/OJ Mayo -- With no Wade, it comes down to Westbrook, Iguodala, Mayo or Gordon. Touch choice. Personally, I would prefer Michael Redd back, or even Kyle Korver. Not seeing either one of them or Brandon Roy, so I'm going with solid shooter/defender/passer OJ Mayo. Sorry to the others. Was a tough decision.

SF: Carmelo Anthony/Kevin Durant/Danny Granger -- No James makes this decision easy. Three dominating combo-forwards.

PF: Chris Bosh/Carlos Boozer -- No changes here. Sorry Wallace and Odom.

C: Dwight Howard/Kevin Love -- Stoudemire? Lopez? I'm going with Kevin Love... Better passer/outside shooter...

Without LeBron, Wade,

Without LeBron, Wade, Stoudemire, Bosh, and Boozer I would go with:
Starting 5
PG: Deron Williams
SG: Kobe Bryant
SF: Kevin Durant
PF: Carmelo Anthony
C: Dwight Howard
G: Chris Paul
G: Derrick Rose
G: Russell Westbrook
G: Stephen Curry
F: Danny Granger
F: LaMarcus Aldridge
F: Al Jefferson

Then for 2012, assuming all players can participate, my 12 man USA basketball roster would be
PG: Deron Williams
SG: Kobe Bryant
SF: LeBron James
PF: Carmelo Anthony
C: Dwight Howard
G: Dwayne Wade
G: Chris Paul
G: Derrick Rose
G: Stephen Curry
F: Kevin Durant
F: Chris Bosh
F: Carlos Boozer

The team has already

The team has already announced the 27 candidates for 2010-12, and I am quite certain Thaddeus Young, JaVale McGee, and J.J. Redick are not on the list.

"Returning to the USA National Team for 2010-12 are 2008 Olympic gold medalists Carmelo Anthony (Denver Nuggets); Carlos Boozer (Utah Jazz); Chris Bosh (Toronto Raptors); Kobe Bryant (Los Angeles Lakers); Dwight Howard (Orlando Magic); LeBron James (Cleveland Cavaliers); Chris Paul (New Orleans Hornets); Dwyane Wade (Miami Heat); and Deron Williams (Utah Jazz). Rounding out the list of Olympians on the national squad roster are 2004 Olympic bronze medalists Lamar Odom (Los Angeles Lakers) and Amar’e Stoudemire (Phoenix Suns).

Completing the list of National Team players are LaMarcus Aldridge (Portland Trail Blazers); Chauncey Billups (Denver Nuggets); Kevin Durant (Oklahoma City Thunder); Rudy Gay (Memphis Grizzlies); Eric Gordon (Los Angeles Clippers); Danny Granger (Indiana Pacers); Andre Iguodala (Philadelphia 76ers); Al Jefferson (Minnesota Timberwolves); David Lee (New York Knicks); Brook Lopez (New Jersey Nets); Kevin Love (Minnesota Timberwolves); O.J. Mayo (Memphis Grizzlies); Kendrick Perkins (Boston Celtics); Derrick Rose (Chicago Bulls); Gerald Wallace (Charlotte Bobcats) and Russell Westbrook (Oklahoma City Thunder)."

So assuming LeBron, Melo, Kobe, Wade, Boozer, Stoudemire, and Bosh are out for the WCs:

PG: Paul, Williams, Rose, Billups, Westbrook
SG: Iguodala, Mayo, Gordon
SF: Durant, Granger, Gay, Wallace
PF: Aldridge, Odom, Lee, Love
C: Howard, Lopez, Perkins

I don't think it would be a lock for gold, but they'll clearly still be the most talented team in Turkey.
