Greivis Vasquez is a great player in my eyes. His a player that can play the 1 and 2. Unlike the other players in this draft he one of the only ones who can create his own shot. His got the confidence of Kobe Bryant(which is a really good thing). Has great mental toughness which you need in the Nba. Can make others score easy. His court vision is just amazing. Has a great wingspan for only being 6'5". He can rebound good for a PG/SG. He can take down smaller guards. He can shoot from the 3 like it's nothing. And can get to the hoop and make does free throw's. Only weakness I see is his athleticism but really that's it. He well be great in the Nba I just think he should go in the First Round not the middle of the 2nd round.
i think greivis is a great player i just dont see him being able to guard NBA 1's and being able to blow by NBA 1's off the dribble
Vasquez reminds me of Julius Hodge, who like Greivis is a tall point guard(Hodge is 6'7 210) who got drafted in the first round by Denver in 05. But Hodge couldnt stay in the NBA because he was too slow to guard PGs while not a consistent shooter or strong enough to play SG. Vasquez will have those same struggles although he was a better shooter than Hodge he's even slower than him.
He didn't suck. If you think so, you didn't watch him in his Senior year (he has never sucked, but he got a good deal better as a Senior). He is big and creative enough to get to the rim.
His confidence SHOULD be nothing like Kobe's confidence. Kobe is confident because he is the best player (or #2) in the league. Greivis thinks he is much better than he is, and takes shots that he should not take. As you said he isn't very athletic-- Which will severely effect his ability to create his own shots in the NBA. (By the way, most players can create shots like Vasquez does--He just takes them so much more than others his numbers look more impressive-- Career .425 FG % is pretty bad). He also is not a good 3 pt shooter-- 32% from 3's-- So from NBA-range he would be closer to 25%.
He's also 23 so he has a low ceiling. Vasquez is no better than an early 2nd round pick and getting chosen in the mid-2nd is very reasonable in my opinion.
I really agree also, i would truly love it if he goes to the wizards at #34. He could be a total sleeper in my opinion.
He is clutch which you can't teach. his length helps him guard quicker guards. He can finish around the rim. He is more nba ready than a lot of pg's. He's never had any help teams can focus in on him. i dont think he will be great but if a top notch team was a role playing 1-2 they should take him. I'd love for him to take hinrich spot for a lot less money for the bulls as the back up 1-2
I think Greives will be a good player with the chance to be as productive as sam cassell. I think NBA scouts are smart enough to realize what a productive player is when they see one. He is more talented than Steve Blake and allegedly has a great work ethic. I'm sure he would compliment the WIzards backcourt if he found his way to DC
He'd fit in perfectly with the other goons on the wizards
Sam Cassell in his prime was 19-7. No way does Vasquez ever score 19 ppg in the L
