top PG debate by Kenny smith and larry beil of yahoo sports
i gtta disagree with kenny, the best PG is still chris paul, he was just injuired. but d-will this yr has been the best PG, but overall, ill take cp3 any day of teh week
I have always liked DWill better then CP3. Can't go wrong either way but I like his size and strength more.
I agree with Kenny on the 3 guys in he car...for the future. But Steve Nash is still incredible.
i agree with you just because a player gets hurt does not mean u automatically can say someone is better D.will had a monster season tho and IMO the 2nd best PG in the league, now if D.will dominates like he did this season next season then we can tip our hats and crown him the best PG in the league barring CP3 is healthy and they are both playing at high levels
when does he get involved with this talk. he's not that far away.
probably next season or the yr after because he is getting better by the game and if they go farther in the playoffs they will put him in that kind of talk
Give me Chris Paul over Deron Williams. It's funny how everyone forgets about Chris Paul since he's been hurt. He was the best PG in the game before he was hurt.
CP3 for me, but if he comes back shaky after the injury and DWill continues to get better, ill be open to change my mind.
a little bit inflated. i mean look at what collison did in the same system. cp3 is extremely efficient and has great stats but you wonder how well he would do with a great team around him. he has to have the ball in his hands
cp3 got the hornets to finish second in the west and made the playoffs on the rgular with david west as his best teammate. He makes everyone's job easier. And collison put up stats because he is a very good pg as well.
CP3's stats aren't inflated. Collison turned the ball over more than Paul, and he didn't have that level of assists or points. He also didn't win like Paul did, despite playing with nearly the exact same team that Paul had. Collison isn't that great to me. He's definitely no Chris Paul, not even close really. Paul would be the best PG no matter what team he played for IMO.
This is only a matter of opinion. Paul, Williams and Rose are all phenomenal point guards. Williams may have been the best point guard this year, but Paul is still the best in the league, IMO. I'd pick him over Williams because I think he's the best defender out of all of them, although Rose could surpass him in the future.
5:22 of "Experts" discussing the best point guards in the league, and not one mention of Rajon Rondo.
They didn't mention rondo because ok i get it he is a good PG but he is not on there Level all three of those players can dominate a game and can be game changers and on any given night u cant stop them
Rondo is limited ok he is fast and can get to the basket but once the lanes are packed he is useless on the offensive end,on defense IMO is a step below CP3 and IMO rondo lacks that It factor that set the three of them ahead of the pack
"Rondo is limited ok he is fast and can get to the basket but once the lanes are packed he is useless on the offensive end,on defense IMO is a step below CP3"
You do understand that all of that is the opposite of what you typed right (besides him being fast and getting to the rim)?
how please explain how rondo is in the same class as CP3.D,Will and D.Rose
He's not quite on that level, I agree. That's not what I was stating.
But he's a better defender than all 3 (you said he's a step below CP3)
He's not "useless" when the lanes are packed. Actually, he very effective when the lanes are packed. Have you seen how many plays he makes passing or getting to the free throw line when the weakside rotates over or the D collapses on him when he dribble drives?
People have said Deron Williams is better than Chris Paul since last year, we haven't "forgot" anything.
Kenny Smith and Charles Barkley both said that Deron Williams is the best PG before the season even started.
It's your opinion that Chris Paul was the best PG before he got hurt, it certainly isn't a fact.
DOUBLE POST POWER
A few people said he was better. Like Utah Jazz fans.
I was watching yesterday when Kenny Smith said to Chris Paul, who appeared on TNT as a co-host, "You were the best PG in basketball, Deron Williams has passed you since you we're injured. How do you get back to being the best PG?"....So I don't know what proof you have or anything that Smith said that last year, but I was watching on live TV when he said it yesterday.
ok ill give u that .. but i still think he will never be on there level IMO he is the type of PG that u bring in when u already have a good team so that he can put up the inflated stats he posted with the celtics. but paul williams and rose are the type of PGs to where no mattter where they would have gotten drafted or what team good or bad they were on would make them a way better team
I wasn't really trying to imply that he'll be on their level, but he is definitely top-5 PG material. I was mad at the fact that they mentioned Brandon Jennings and Darren Collison as potential elite point guards, but not Rondo.
i didnt listen to the whole thing, did they mention my boy DC? Good for them. Iggy is trying to compare what he did as a rookie to CP3 who is the best pg in the game like that is a negative that dc isnt already on the same level.
lmao yeah i was like thats a little out there mentioning them over him
"Kenny Smith and Charles Barkley both said that Deron Williams is the best PG before the season even started."
Here's a Q&A and another link of Kenny Smith BEFORE THE SEASON (during the Finals last year), and the other day saying he thinks Paul is the best PG in the game when healthy: http://www.cleveland.com/cavs/index.ssf/2009/05/the_q_with_tnt_nba_analy... & http://thestartingfive.net/2010/05/02/notes-from-tnt%E2%80%99s-coverage-...
Charles Barkley picked Williams over Paul last night, but I can't find anything saying he did before the season.
if i remember correctly, both kenny and barkley had cp3 as the best before the season started. However, it is certainly a legit opinion to say DWill was better then paul before this season.
Llperez, I know you went to UCLA or like UCLA or whatever, but do you really think Darren Collison will ever be close to being as good as Chris Paul? Well, do you think he will ever be an elite PG? All bias aside
nobody said he was or will be as good as paul. SOmeone else said the fact dc put up stats was because the system and i said it was because he was a good player. Then you jumped in with trying to tear him down by saying why he isnt as good as CP3 who is probably the best pg in the game.
i think dc will be a top 10 pg in the league yes. COuld be an all-star one day, but i doubt it. Put him in a starting spot next year and he probably puts up 17-18ppg and 8-9 assists while playing very good defense.
It was the pre-season (I believe) and they had Deron Williams in the studio and they both told him that he was the best PG in basketball.
Not the pre-season, but it was two months before Chris Paul's injury.
also, while i am a ucla fan and tend to rate them higher then others on here, i had never once said anything about darren collison being anything special before the draft. I actually remember arguing with a few people who thought higher of him then i did believe it or not. He absolutely surprised me with his play as a rookie. It wasnt until he proved it on the court until i started hyping him, so dont think just becasue of jrue that my opinion on anything to do with the bruins is automatically biased.
There are so many outstanding point guards in the NBA but I would have to say Deron Williams is the best overall.
Although many would disagree, if they were the same age, I would rather have Steve Nash than Chris Paul. I watch Nash play at Phoenix and he continues to repeatedly amaze me with one incredible pass or play after another. Can anyone imagine Phoenix without Steve Nash? Even at the age of 36, he's still one of the most valuable players in the game.
