G.O.A.T.

Who are the best players at their position of all time? Not statistically, but if you had to win a game with the best players of all time, who would you go with?

C:
Shaquille O'Neal
Wilt Chamberlain
Bill Russell
Hakeem Olajuwan
Kareem Abdul-Jabbar
Patrick Ewing
George Mikan

PF:
Dirk Nowitzki
Charles Barkley
Kevin McHale
Karl Malone
Kevin Garnett
Tim Duncan
Elvin Hayes
Bob Pettit

SF:
James Worthy
Dominique Wilkins
Scottie Pippen
Julius Erving
Elgin Baylor
John Havlecik
Larry Bird
LeBron James

SG:
Michael Jordan
Kobe Bryant
Pete Maravich
Allen Iverson
Jerry West
George Gervin
Clyde Drexler

PG:
Isaiah Thomas
John Stockton
Earvin Johnson
Gary Payton
Oscar Robertson
Chris Paul (I gotta put him down, he's a 22ppg-11pg-5rpg-2spg kind of guy..)

C-

C- Russell
PF-Duncan
SF-Pippen
SG-Jordan
PG-Payton

No one would score more than 50 against that team.

I was gonna pick Hakeem only

I was gonna pick Hakeem only because I actually saw him play. However, Russell is regarded as the best defensive center by most. The Dream is probably second, guy was a beast.

..

My question is to win in what time? in todays game or 50 years ago ? cause i dont think russel could play against shaq,howard,olajuwon,ewing...

i think this would be the most dominant team ever

olajuwon
duncan
barkley
jordan
magic

i put barkley at sf cause he had point forward skills and he could play every position

Not saying that these guys

Not saying that these guys are neccesarily the best of all time, but if I had to pick a team of players in their prime to win a game with the fate of the world on the line this would be it;

PG Magic Johnson
SG Michael Jordan
SF Larry Bird
PF Tim Duncan
C Bill Russell

Not only were they all great players but they were all winners and intense competitors who gave their opponents no quarter. A combined 29 championships between them all.

dwight howard got it right

Thats probably the best team anybody can make. Russel and Duncan defending the low post while Magic orchestrates the offense, Larry shooting lights out, and Michael well... being Jordan.

Well Ray Allen has his ring so I think he is out of the running but I think there are several guys who should be in there over Miller. Allen Iverson, George Gervin and Pete Maravich as far as I'm concerned well all better than Reggie.

if my life was on the line

if my life was on the line and i had to pick one team in their prime to win a game, my roster would be:

c-Shaquile O'Neal
pf-Tim Duncan
sf-Lebron James
sg-Michael Jordan
pg-kobe Bryant

Some might say kobe is not a pg, but in his prime he could gaurd any pg out there plus he, jordan and lebron could all run the point and bring it up. I would sleep very easy with that team knowing i would likely live another day.

the perfect starting five would be

Chamberlain
Bird
LeBron
Jordan
Magic

Not only could no team score on them, they would be the fastest team in the league and the least selfish. Magic and Bird would have a field day just tossing the ball up to LeBron and MJ knowing that both of them are capable of flushing it down. Wilt the Stilt was still 7'2 and an amazing athlete, he would lead the league in offensive rebounds and blocked shots. Bird would be the ultimate stretch forward to LeBron and Jordan in order for driving lanes to open up and between the smarts of Bird and the athleticism LeBron with the size Wilt down low, guarding the 4 position would not be a problem. You would never have to worry about a close game because for one, it would never be close, and two, you know Jordan will make the shot.

like this post.....

Hey Gee22Money i like how u did that... real nice with the east vs west.... but phil over Auerbach? phil won 6 titles in the east... forgot how much but Red has more... but none the less good decision

as for me
C - Kareem ( most points all time )
PF - Tim Duncan ( best pf ever )
SF - LeBron James ( POSSIBLY on his way to being the best ever )
SG - Jordan ( do i really need to say anything )
PG - Magic ( match-up nightmare, would lead the break amazingly )

StF616 almost agree, Penny really

you even considered Kobe over Mike.
I would think MJ would be the one lock
C: Russel
PF:Tim Duncan
SF:Larry Bird
SG:Michael Jordan
PG:Magic Johnson

Defense, Offense and the ultimate closer

pf was the only tough desicion

C: Wilt Chamberlain (easily best center)
PF: Bill Russell (was thinking duncan but on this team you can't beat russell's defense here)
SF: Lebron James (close here with bird but i'd rather have lbj)
SG: Michael Jordan (nobody close)
PG: Oscar Robertson (triple double threat every night)

the best players and team

bill russell has more championships as an athlete than any other player in north american sports history

Tim duncan is a 12 time all defensive team. 3 time finals mvp with four rings.

larry bird averaged 24 pts, 6 asts, and 10 reb a game for his career. two time finals mvp with three rings

michael jordan is the best of all time with 6 finals mvps

magic johnson has 3 finals mvps and 5 rings total

this is a complete team that would play together. they wouldnt be fighting over shots and compliment each other well

i'm sorry

but player who have never won a ring can't be on these list. we are talking right now not ten years down the line.

Lebron James is a loser not a winner. Please somebody tell me what he's won so far.

Kobe career has been carried on shaq's back. he only has one finals mvp. he's not a bum but he's certainly no mj
