ncaa tournament going to 68 teams very likely starting next year
here is my one concern about this. We can all assume that by adding 3 teams those will more then likely go to power conferences that just missed a spot in previous selection sundays. Think Miss St, Illinois, Virg Tech, and Ariz St from last year. That I have no problem with at all.
What I do have a problem with is if the ncaa tourney essentially just takes the bottom 8 teams and makes them all play a first round play in game where the 4 winners get to join the the other 60 teams and play the #1 seeds from each region. If that is the case, then those 8 lowest seeded teams are all gonna be from mid major conferences and they will essentially be elminating each other from truly enjoying the full experience of the ncaa tournament while the power conferences get an extra couple teams in and reap the benefits of this minor expansion.
If that's the case, I think that sucks.
So now it's a 17 seed tourny? How will that format?
it does suck dude. i think they want to change it cuz the past tournament was so good, they probbaly wanta c more college action in march. but then at the same time the seedings rite now is still good, dont knw y they wood want to change it.
it will basicaly be like the 17th and 16th seeds play each other for a right to play the number 1 seed. They already do that in one bracket but now they will be doing that in all 4 brackets. At least thats what i believe will be the case.
Oh ok, that's good, I guess. I thought they were trying to eliminate the elimination game. Guess not huh..
but tht wood be dumb game seriiously. cuz y have two teams from each bracket play to play for the lowest seed in the bracket, and then just lose to the number 1 seed? its dumb if u ask me.
i agree mwardia. I think you have 8 teams from around the country that rarely play in the tournament and their fans get all caught up in the moment. ANd then they find out not only are set up to play a one seed, but they have to beat someone else just to get that opportunity even. We are taking 8 teams that won their conference and have earned the right to play in the tournament and making them beat each other for a spot so that we can add 3 more teams that went .500 from a power 6 conference because after all those are the schools that bring in money.
