Sun Yue
He plays for the Beijing Olympians
"Beijing Olympians or Beijing Aoshen are a professional basketball team that formerly played in the Chinese Basketball Association and now play in the West Coast Pro Basketball League, as well as the American Basketball Association."
He was a terrible defender and he did nothing at an NBA level. Other than being tall and athletic for a "PG". He wasn't even a PG, it was just the only position he could play to have his best chance at an NBA roster spot.
Sasha Vujacic was very similar to Yue, except Yue was a better athlete and not as good a game-situation shooter. Vujacic was actually a PG when he played overseas and at the very beginning of his Laker career, most don't know that
yeah, sasha played pg his first year or two in the nba. Im pretty sure Yue only played like a total of 30 minutes in his nba career, so its hard to really analyze him too much. What I saw was a decent shooter, decent passer, decent defender, decent ball handler. But to make it in the league, you have to do something better then at a decent level. He was intriguing prospect because of his height, but it just didnt materialize into an nba player.
I was writing about Mark Payne and I got to thinking, speaking of 6'8" pointguards, whatever happened to Sun Yue.
For those who don't know, sun yue was a 6'9" point from china who is a good 3 point shooter (Kobe compared him to Sasha vujacic in that suit) and a very good athlete.
The lakers drafted him in the second round a couple years ago (2008?) anyway he wasn't getting much pt so they traded him to the knicks and now he's not on their roster.
So my question is, what happened to him and will he ever get a chance at playing time in the league
