What About Oden?
I think Portland will secretly shop Oden to see what the Value is.
If they could get a couple picks? Maybe they move him.
I do see Pryzbilla ending up being moved. Maybe look for a Pryzbilla- Prince deal?
Well Oden will get hurt sometime next year.....so the 4 man big guy rotation will work well (Oden, Camby, Aldridge, Pryzbilla)......and Camby can back up the 4 spot too.
C- Oden, Camby, Pryzbilla
PF- Aldridge, Camby, Pendergraph
SF- Batum, Webster
SG- Roy, Fernandez
PG- Miller, Bayless, Mills
I refuse to add Juwan Howard to the roster, odds are he will retire or at the very least move on
I also can't add Cunningham to the roster because I don't see him coming back
Victor Claver probably will stay another year in Europe
Odds are the rookie from their rd. 1 pick will make the team....so that leaves one roster spot to fight over
Good on paper but as was proved this year........guys have to stay healthy.....seems to be difficult for these Blazers
if im the blazers, im honestly just gonna pretend oden isnt there until i see him at full strength and staying healthy. Thats not to say portland should give up on him, but at this point im not sitting around waiting. The blazers are trying to win now. If oden can get healthy and prove he is better then camby then he plays. Truth is it might be 2 years before he is abe to stay healthy and pass camby up anyways.
You know what we do forget, Greg Oden is 22. Now he has been injured a lot and has not developed as much as he should, but physically he'll always be fine. He needs to learn how to play basketball, and to replace Marcus Camby off the bench for 2 years is not a bad thing. He becomes the team's starting center at 24 and with Brandon Roy, Aldridge, and whoever else they get Oden will become a force on the team.
Oden gets 24 minutes at C
Aldridge gets 36 at PF
Camby gets 24 at C 12 at PF.
Przybilla is expiring and is still a good player, they should be able to move him and get some of value.
Pendergraph and Cunningham do what they did this year: Wait for injuries, foul trouble, or blow outs to get minutes.
Most teams in the NBA would kill to have at least one big man, so why would you want to get rid of one of them? Chances are one of them will go down, and you wouldn't lose a thing starting the backup.
yeah, if im the blazers, i would probably want to be about 4 deep at each position after this season.
llperez, if I was the Blazers I would ask for the roster to be expanded to 18-20 guys for all the injuries they had this season. If one more guy got hurt in the regular season they may of had an open try out.
I wouldn't say Oden was a waste of a pick. When he does play hes very productive. He averaged over two blocks when he was actually in the game. He'll get healthy eventually
If you judge the pick based off who was taken after him Oden, then sure you can say it was a waste of a pick. If you judge the pick based off of Oden the player, I don't think it was a waste of a pick. You would then have to say that taking Andrew Bogut in the 2004 draft was a waste of a pick because Chris Paul and Deron Williams were available.
i wouldnt say hes a waste either. He has shown signs to be a very good big man who can impact the game at both ends. But I just think portland is a team trying to win now and they need to sign guys and make moves regardless of oden becasue until we see him on the court for a full season, i wouldnt worry if camby or pryzbila are gonna steal his minutes.
I think one thing we forget is that for a big man the learning curve is a lot higher than it is for a Shooting guard or Small forward. If I were to rank the learning curve from Hardest to Easiest it would go like this for me.
1. Center
2. Point Guard
3. Small Forward
4. Shooting Guard
5. Power Forward
If I were to rank from hardest to easiest in positions to play it would go like this for me
1. Point Guard
2. Center
3. Small Forward
4. Power Forward
5. Shooting Guard
Point is if the Blazers were to be rash and give up on Oden they would pay for it worse than they would when they drafted him.
Portland is a better team with Camby at Center than Oden and I think Oden will be traded for a young big because he really does not fit into what Portland likes to do. Everyone else on the team is hurt game wise when he plays with them.
sheltwon... oden basically had one of the highest TS% of all time... lead the league in blocks while he was playing... and averaged 8 boards in 23 minutes... he really got better at playing without fouling...
his numbers this year compared to dwight howards PER 36 MINUTES
ODEN:16.7 pts, 2.8 block, 12.8 rebounds,60.5% fg, 76%ft
HOWARD:19 pts 2.9 blks 13.7 boards 61.2fg%, 59.2 ft%
if he can stay healthy and develop i think he can easily be better than dwight... its gonna be all about getting to the line for oden and making the other team pay...
They will keep all 3 centers. At the trade deadline Joel will be worth alot. Their is a lower cap making his contract worth a top tier players and with him being a top 15 (real) center he would be wanted. and resigned for dirt cheap as well. I say keep him. If oden gets hurt we would stick past the trade deadline and become cap space regardless. Win - Win for portland

If im the blazers I trade Oden NOW while hes still young and has some value, I mean if you trade him now and he turns into a year in and year out injury prone stiff, well atleast you got some value for him, and if he turns in to the player he was suppose to be coming out of OSU, well then you made a stupid move lol.
Why would the Blazers trade a center thats only 22 years old? Just because we resign camby for two more years doesn't mean we need to move Oden. If Camby wasn't 36 years old I would agree with you but he's not.
no way should the blazers give up on oden. when he is healthy he can be dominant he is too gifted phisically he can pretty much push his way under the hoop and dunk and he is still real quick and athletic for how huge he is.
If KP were to even whisper Oden was availabe, every team in the L would hear it and be blowing up his cell phone. Despite the two knee injuries, he's still a 22 year old center who can impact the floor at both ends.
I personally wished they traded Oden. I think he needs a fresh start, as long as it's not with the Clippers.

What happens to Oden now that Marcus Camby signed a two year contract with the Blazers?
