At the beginning of the season, many mock drafts had him going 2nd round (Anywhere from early to late).. Now it seems as if people have stopped talking about him altogether. I know he's still on the NBADraft.net Mock Draft but he's disappeared on other mocks and he's moved into late 2nd round in 2011. I'm aware of the suit that he's in and that he lied about receiving improper benefits.. but that doesn't mean the kid can't play. He was a top high school recruit in his senior year. Do you guys see any team taking a chance?
Well i think mocks had him higher than second round, not playing basketball for a whole year they have no idea if he can play at the college level, let alone in the nba and he hasnt played competitive basketball in a year, from what i hear hes staying i think will be a first round pick next year.
will be sitting out some more games, but will play
thats the last i heard
hope he does play, i wanna see what this kid's all about
Fat and out of shape last i saw.
Should be interesting to see him play in the SEC.
He made a big mistake by going to college. He should have just gone to NBDL, makes a salary there and tries to dominate there. It's not a sure thing, but with his talent, the low level of defense, and the lack of big man talent in the NBDL, he could have a good chance to shine there. If he dominates in the NBDL, he can maximize his draft stock.
With his character issue, I would be surprised to see any Euro teams would be willing to take him on (as Euro team plays team game, team player is a key characteristic which is one of more well-known red flags of Sidney).
Now he's stuck. He went to play college ball, but got into trouble and was suspended for the entire season (more suspension next season + NCAA fine). All these took his draft stock to the bottom.
If I were him, I would declare and aim at being drafted in 2nd round or go undrafted. Then, expect playing in NBDL next year. Getting in shape, prepare to dominate in D-League and look for the big money in the 2nd contract.
He still practiced all year with Mississippi State. so he still is in basketball shape and i too want to see what this kid is about.
