Mike Conley and the Grizzlies
Hey grizzly fans I need to know if Mike Conley is working out at the point for you guys or not. I hear no, and then I see him having pretty solid games, and good averages for a 3rd year point guard. Which is it, bust or future star. Would you draft a point guard with the 25th or 28th pick to replace Conley, if you were the GM of the Grizz?
I think Conley is decent, i saw the okc/memphis game last week and he seemed good. I dont think he or any other point guards will put up big numbers there because they have big volume shooters. They need to just get better by focusing on defense. They have a decent squad. Besides there isnt really any great point guards available in the 20's like last year. there will be no Maynor, Teague , Lawson or Collison available.
if i was the gm hell yeah i would draft a point because mike is a good back-up and im a ohio state fan and i say have him come off the bench.
Conley is what... 21 years old? That's still very young. He's still improving and has come a long way since he was drafted. I remember he couldn't shoot a lick in high school and just struggled knowing when to look for his own offense. He's gotten a lot better in those areas.
I think he's a starting caliber point guard, though he'll probably never live up to being picked 4th in the draft.
That's what the Grizzlies must consider during another offseason as they evaluate what has become a lightning rod: the point guard position.
This Mike Conley -- the aggressive player who scored in double digits in the Grizzlies' final 15 games while averaging 17.0 points, nearly six assists and 48-percent shooting -- provides optimism at the position. He averaged 14.8 points, 5.8 assists and 46-percent shooting in 31 games after All-Star Weekend.
Okay, so it looks like you Grizzly fans are satisfied with Conley and expect more from him next year. Majority wins 3-1, sorry dwilks101586, but majority wins.
Now what about your bench? What positions are looking to fill. I imagine PF, and I already plan on putting Patrick Patterson or Donatus Montiejunas at the 12th pick in my mock draft. So C, SF, SG, and PG are up for grabs. Are you satisfied with who who you have right now, or are you willing to go for someone else that might be available at the 25th or 28th picks. Are you truly satisfied with Hasheem Thabeet, Ronnie Brewer,(I imagine so, because he was pretty valuable to me and the Utah Jazz, but he works better as a 3 not a 2, so you better be using him as a backup to Gay.) Demarre Carrol, Hamed Haddadi, Lester Hudson, Steven Hunter, Jamaal Tinsley, Marcus Williams, and Sam Young, or are willing to go for someone else. If so, who?
Of those Sam Young, DeMarre Carrol, and Lestor Hudson are just rookies so, I imagine you want to keep those guys there and see what you can get out of them, but you never know so if you want to replace them, go ahead and tell me who, and who you want to replace him, and I will make that change in my mock.
Please note this is only for the 25th and 28th picks, because I have already pretty much figured out who to replace at the 12th pick. (Darrell Arthur, I intend to put Patrick Patterson or Donatus Montiejunas there to replace Arthur)
What do you want to do with the 25th and 28th picks?
Conley is ok but will never be a great point guard, look at how someone like Darren Collison replaced Paul and led the Hornets. I think Memphis should make a push for Collison as Collison will never be in the starting five as long as Paul is here. He proved he was worth a starting spot and maybe a deal for Collison could make the Grizzlies a far better team.
Collison would be good for the Grizz. What is your offer, khoss, for him? Do you think the Hornets will accept it and why or why not? What about your bench? I hope the Grizzlies will make the playoffs next year but I know you can't compete without a good bench. Right now I see your bench as your biggest problem. So who would you replace, and who do you want to replace them.
