JuJuan Johnson enters the draft
Definitely think he should stay in school for his senior year. Purdue may be favorites next year to win the title. They will have a stacked team full of seniors. If I were him I would stay, go for the title and then come out next year and get drafted higher.
I really like Johnson. I've been watching him since his high school days at Franklin Central. He obviously needs to gain weight/strength... He still needs about 20-25 lbs.
He has a lot of good qualities though. He's super long, runs the floor well and is a great athlete. Very good shot blocker. If he remains in the draft, I think he's an early second round pick. He won't be ready to play for another two seasons.
Hakeem Warrick.
Anyway, this is a good decision, test the waters, get a feel for where he may go and to do the workouts and at the very least use it as good preparation for next season, and with his athleticism, he could sneak his way in the 20-30 range perhaps.
He's kinda stiff offensively in some of his post moves, and he has the one of the worst bodies in college basketball and his shoulders will make it hard for him to put on weight with a loss in athleticism and quickness. I doubt he declares though, he probably just wants to know where his stock is.
He has some nice skills, but he's going to have to get a consistent mid-range shot. He's not wide or strong enough to play the low post in the NBA, so he'll make any hey he hopes to get in the high post in the NBA. He reminds of a slightly less athletic Hakim Warrick.
He won't sign with an agent, keeping open the option of returning to Purdue.
I have no problem with the move. If he doesn't get good feedback, he can return to Purdue for his senior season. I think he's a borderline late first round pick.
