JuJuan Johnson enters the draft
He won't sign with an agent, keeping open the option of returning to Purdue.
I have no problem with the move. If he doesn't get good feedback, he can return to Purdue for his senior season. I think he's a borderline late first round pick.
right now i think he is a mid second rounder but next year he could be late first.
Definitely think he should stay in school for his senior year. Purdue may be favorites next year to win the title. They will have a stacked team full of seniors. If I were him I would stay, go for the title and then come out next year and get drafted higher.
I remember early in the year many people believe he would be a top 20 pick. I think he could go in the 19-30 range.
Agreed about him not signing with an agent, good move. I am a bit surprised by it. He needs to add more to his frame he has good skills, but needs to add more to his frame in order to be able to play power forward in the NBA.
johnson is a intriguing prospect. his game is like a sf/pf, but he looks akward sometimes when trying to make his moves, and his body is like a center
I really like Johnson. I've been watching him since his high school days at Franklin Central. He obviously needs to gain weight/strength... He still needs about 20-25 lbs.
He has a lot of good qualities though. He's super long, runs the floor well and is a great athlete. Very good shot blocker. If he remains in the draft, I think he's an early second round pick. He won't be ready to play for another two seasons.
dont get me wrong, hes a great athlete, i wood take him def. in the 2nd round or even late 1st round. hes bit of a tweener as of now
Anyway, this is a good decision, test the waters, get a feel for where he may go and to do the workouts and at the very least use it as good preparation for next season, and with his athleticism, he could sneak his way in the 20-30 range perhaps.
He's not a tweener. He's been a c/pf through his whole college career and he projects as a pf. I like him...He's got a good mid range shot, plenty of length and is athletic. Unfortunately, he is painfully thin and is not a very good rebounder.
"I think he's a borderline late first round pick."
He's a legit 1st round prospect and will help out a quality team.
He's kinda stiff offensively in some of his post moves, and he has the one of the worst bodies in college basketball and his shoulders will make it hard for him to put on weight with a loss in athleticism and quickness. I doubt he declares though, he probably just wants to know where his stock is.
He has some nice skills, but he's going to have to get a consistent mid-range shot. He's not wide or strong enough to play the low post in the NBA, so he'll make any hey he hopes to get in the high post in the NBA. He reminds of a slightly less athletic Hakim Warrick.
Milwaukee or New Jersey could snag him in the 2nd round and be a back up and maybe mold him into a Charlie V. He would fit Golden States system too. Washington may snag him as a back up to Blatche
