Illuminati

I think the Illuminati stuff is nonsense!!! Jay-Z's "dynasty/Roc-A-Fella" hand symbol may have some sort of connection to devil worship, but I HIGHLY doubt that Jay-Z had that in mind when he or Dame Dash came up with it in the mid 90's. A lot of people think its cool to have some sort of gesture to represent their crew, that's all the Jay-Z's ROC symbol means. Lebron copied it because he looks up to Jay-Z, not because he worships the devil.

I can almost guarantee you

I can almost guarantee you that this is more of LeBron just trying to portray himself as a pop culture phenom as well. I mean he see Hova throwing it up and due to the relationship between hiphop and basketball, he just does it spur of the moment. Either that, or he is getting paid behind the scenes by representatives to do so. Wouldn't be surprised at all if that was the case.

It is also as symbol of dominance and power, which would portray to LeBron's goals both on and off the court.

I dont think the Illuminati

I dont think the Illuminati has anything to do with devil worshipping.... It has more to do with freemasons, knights of the templar, paganism, egyptians, "secret" knowledge, and &$#%#&@! like that....

First off, i havent done

First off, i havent done research but i find lebron being part of the illuminati highly unlikely.

As for the illuminati, it has nothing to do with the devil. Illuminati is supposedly an underground organization that has been around for many centuries that was based around scientific minds who were persecuted by the church for preaching science over religion. Remember back then, according to the church everything was created by god and such notions as the earth has been around billions of years or that it was even flat was considered blasphemy. Apparently a large number of these more educated or "enlightend" individuals came together to promote succes through education outside the church and had to be kept secret for fear of being executed by the church. Nothing to do with the devil or satan worship. In fact, many illuminati members were themsleves religous they just didnt think religion explained everything and that science should be pushed aside.

I don't know which way to go

I don't know which way to go on this topic. Yes... I've heard of this before though. Especially being a Christian. It's scary and you find yourself questioning is it real or not. Like you're like, "This can't be real."

My brother is the first one who told me about it in regards to certain music/artists. Basically that a lot of artists sold their souls for riches. I did some research and found some crazy stuff. And I'm usually not the type of guy to get caught up in stuff like this. It put enough freight into me that I've damn near stopped listening to certain artists though.

And if you listen closely to

And if you listen closely to certain songs, they'll say stuff.

Nas said in one of his songs, "Illuminati wants my mind soul and my body."

Jay-Z has said a ton... In one song he said, "I never pray to God, I pray to Gotti"

Jay-Z has also said... "Jesus can't save you, life starts when the church ends."

Lupe Fiaso said in reply to what Jay-Z said... "I had a Jay-Z boycott because he said he never prayed to God, he prayed to Gotti. I'm thinking God lee, God guard me from the ungodly..."

Here's a video of something Kanye West said....

it's entirely possible there

it's entirely possible there is an underground society where some of these rapers and possibly other celebrities have joined in and maybe they call it iluminati. But my guess even if that was the case, i seriously doubt they are devil worshippers. And it also would more then likely be some kind of modern day offspring of traditional illuminati society. Illuminati's roots and history has zero ties to the devil and was founded by christian belieivers who thought the church and the people controlling the church were corrupt and evil, not god or religion itself.

It is

It is the illuminati sign that portrays the division of power amongst the 5 points on the 5 pointed star (illuminati symbol). It is believed that the illuminati attempted to divide world power amongst 5 individuals. Today it is believed one of those individuals is within the United Nations, one is part of a major banking corporation and i forget the rest. But the thought is, that combining these 5 powers allows them to control things such as the worlds economy (recessions, fixed prices, what have you) and ultimately place a hidden monopoly on things that we typically feel are open to free trade. It is a symbol of power, wealth, and fame, not as much devil worshipping. The reason the devil worshipping is seen as part of this is because the greed and disparity of wealth is something that is thought of as being evil.

People need to do research before making outlandish claims that LeBron or Hova are devil worshippers. I did this research in like 5 minutes and found out plenty about why LBJ and Hova would be throwing this up, outside of it just being a pop culture symbol as well. Not saying anyone on here is making those type of claims, but there has been some talk about that outside of NBAdraft.net.

All it is is a way for celebrity figures, athletes, rapper, what have you, to go out and compare themselves to these theorized powerful individuals. I would bet my bottom dollar on that.

Also, you gotta take what

Also, you gotta take what rappers are saying in context. I mean, the image that most rappers prescribe to is that hard driven gangsta life. But, at the same time, many of them want to portray themselves as having a side that is devoted to God. You can't take this as the truth. It is all about living up to something that very few people are. Its about fulfilling an image and people feel is what a rapper should be. Its all about making that $$$ and building that celeb status. Everyone just is wanting to be the next 2Pac, he's the only one in recent memory who lived that lifestyle and spoke his mind without attempting to act out as something he wasn't. Thats why he is widely renowned as the most respectable rapper of all-time.

Lebron and Jay-Z part of the Illuminati??

The Roc-A-Fella gesture is just something Jay-Z or Damon Dash created as a pop culture symbol. The more popular Jay-Z became, the more people began to copy that Roc-A-Fella gesture. Jay-Z has been doing this for 10+ years, why is this an issue all of a sudden?? Artists sell their souls by compromising their beliefs in order to sell records, it has nothing to do with some sort of "hidden underground". How many times have we heard an artists claim to be a believer in a certain religion or have a strong moral code, yet their videos and lyrics totally contradict that. To me, the person who started the Jay-Z-Illumaniti stuff is just looking to get some attention for themselves.

As far as the 'hand gesture'

As far as the 'hand gesture' goes, I think Lebron might be doing it for the Roc Nation-Pop Culture value of it, like any other Jay-Z fan

But as far as Jay-Z goes, theres definetly a subliminal message behind it, Jay-Z has always been questioned about it, and his songs have said how he feels about god, but never has admitted to worshiping the devil or being apart of the illuminati culture

I agree with that, but much

I agree with that, but much of it does have to do with power as well. There is a theory that the original illuminati was attempting to gain world power by taking over portions of the world's most powerful entities. If this would be a reference to a present day illuminati, it would most likely be a relationship between powerful members in todays society such as LeBron and Jay-Z. Their group would represent dominance and leadership that each of them strive for in their respected industries.

I think Jay-z does agree with some of the ideals behind the Illuminati, but as far as devil worshipping goes, I can't say he is one just based on some of his lyrical content and a hand gesture that he utilizes. Personally I have many varying beliefs and don't fall into any one faith.

for you M Dymes

Your Comment: The reason the devil worshipping is seen as part of this is because the greed and disparity of wealth is something that is thought of as being evil.
Fact: in the 15th and 16th cents. the term Illuminati, or Alumbrado, referred to persons claiming direct communion with the Holy Spirit. Not the devil, unless you consider that the Holy Spirit. Their claims led to persecution by the Inquisition. They were persecuted because they didn't agree with the teachings of the Catholic church at the time. What did the Catholic church, at the time, do to people who didn't agree with them? They said they were devil worshipers and they needed to die. Kind of like when they killed all free thinking women becuse they were thought to be WITCHES.

My turn to call you out. If you read the theory about how world leaders (not cited by name) and corporations have collaborated and formed unions to form hidden monopolies on major businesses. They hope to control vectors of the world, particularly its economy (which leads to power) through these monopolies. In doing so, the theory is that they will be able to promote their choices and ideas (some extremists feel it is forms of devil worshipping as well), but the premises for much of their business is to become more powerful first. That is what these celebrities are driving from when they throw up the signs IMO.

I also have taken a classes on religion and its affect on things such as the economy and political welfare of various countries. There are many theories out there that have supportive evidence about this claim so it is not something you can just cast aside without considering. There still are those extremists who believe in the witchcraft and what have you, but many of the people who develop some ideals off of illuminati tradition recognize its beliefs in power and wealth more than its past which was developed much more on fighting off the accusations of devil worshipping.

It is more of a rebellious belief (one the I somewhat agree with given how extreme some catholics can be *I don't mean to criticize anyone if they are catholic) against the idea that if you aren't catholic you are going to hell. I do believe everyone has right to their own beliefs, but to take people down just because they don't feel the same way is real &$#%#&@! up. I strongly disagree with having any beliefs (religion, political, etc.) forced upon someone. I know my family brought me up as a fairly strong christian but by the time I reach college, I developed my own beliefs much to their displeasure. Whose to say who is wrong and who is right when their is no concrete evidence regardless of what you believe in.

Here is a link to Jay-Z speaking out on the claims that he is an illuminati...

exactly adamsdank.

exactly adamsdank. Illuminati felt that the church corrupted mans relationship with god. SO when individuals came out and said anything even remotely that didn't coincide with the church's teachings, they were labeled as devil worshippers by the church to get the masses to side against them. I was thinking about the witch trials as comparison as well.

Jay-Z

I don't think Jay-Z has any connection to the Illuminati. Supposedly, Jay-Z doesn't write down lyrics, so his lyrics must come off the top of his head meaning he doesn't really think about what he is saying. I don't think people should take a literal meaning of Jay-Z's lyrics because of this. The time to take Jay-Z seriously is in interviews and I don't believe Jay-Z has EVER made any references to Illuminati in interviews.

The Roc-A-Fella gesture(or any other kind of gesture) is also a marketing tool. It's an easy way for Jay-Z's fans to identify themselves. You can also put something like that on t-shirts, hats and other items. I believe Jay-Z(or Damon Dash) came up with that gesture ONLY for those reasons.

LeBron/Illuminati

Here is a link for a video I saw a couple months ago on youtube for LeBron being connected with the Free Masonry/Illuminati. I think the best thing you will get out of it is this sweet Dilla instrumental they play at the end, at least that is the best thing I got out of it. Do I think that celebrities could indeed be connected with such organizations? Yes. Do I think LeBron/Kobe are connected to it? I would have a hard time believing it. I for one believe that in hip-hop culture, a lot of symbols tend to be borrowed and take on their own meaning. In LeBron's case, I see this as most likely being heavily applicable. Even if he was connected with such an organization, I have yet to see concrete evidence of him doing much bad in such association, so, unless someone can give me better evidence than his supposed symbolism and handshakes, than I tend to just think of it as a comedy video. But, enjoy, you could learn something new.

A lot of people think that

A lot of people think that Lucifer is going after the youth through music. A lot of people forget or don't know that Lucifer was the angel of music and was considered to be the most beautiful of all angels before God kicked him out of Heaven.

It's not a coincidence to me that these hip hop artists have so many satanic messages in their music.

Of Course

I learned so much about this topic over the course of the season and Lebron and other players are pons for the illuminati. It has become so blatant and obvious its getting more real, this isn't a joke.People are so BRIANWASHED by the media it is very sad. Look at Lebron's tattos, he has a tat of a beast! Do you know what the beast is a symbol for? Your probably thinking in your head that Lehype is trying to imply that he is a beast on the court, but that's not the real reason. Lebron is paying homage to his god Baphomet (Lucifer). Lebron also has the choosen one on his back, Lebron is also changing his number to 6 next year, I wonder why? Come on now give me a break Lebron, how obvious are you making this? If Lehype goes to the Nets it would make perfect sense, look at their logo very closely, it is a very slick 6 inside of a triangle. Many teams have illuminati symbolism like the Mavs,Bucks,Knicks,Bulls,Magic etc. I have news to tell you folks its not just the NBA with illuminati symbolism, its everywhere and it's sad because people have absolutely no clue whats going on in the spiritual relm. It is a real fight going on for your soul at the end of the day.

I just hope there isn't any Lakers in that nonsense, because it is real and the average sheep have no clue at all of whats going on.

If u believe in the

If u believe in the Illuminati and all that you really gotta watch out for who you idolize and what you listening too. As basketball fans and players, we are widely susceptible to this. Everyday &$#%#&@! that you love, a lot of it can have these illusions. Take that new Lil Wayne Drop the World music video...that is damn near as much of a warning as there is if you believe it.

I for one am still not sure what I believe. I have been researching this stuff for a while now, but it is very complicated. Hands down one of the most interesting topics around though.

That's why I've never

That's why I've never idolized anybody. Jay-Z was just recently here in Indianapolis and I went to the concert with a group of people. I wasn't even going to go at first, but let my friends convince me. He had the whole crowd screaming, "Hova! Hova! Hova!" A thought went through my mind, "This man ain't God." It gave me a sick feeling to my stomach.

This whole illuminati thing may or may not be true, but I am just going to be aware about it and leave at that. I am not going to let this take me over.

I'm pretty damn sure Wayne n Em are trying to say something in this video. It just makes too much sense. Especially the "just hope you're heaven sent or you're hell proof". Whether its for real or not is for you to decide, but he def. is putting that &$#%#&@! out there for you to consider.

Also note the listen to lil wayne shirt and the 621 in the background at 3:21. Damn there is just so much to consider in this song and video when it comes to examining the Illuminati.

Other key lyrics:

"Hate in my heart, love in my mind"- wants to speak out against Illuminati but his soul has been sold
"Im cursed"
"The top gets higher the more that I climb, the spot gets smaller and I get bigger"- heaven harder to reach, but his role on earth gets bigger.
"All this bull&$#%#&@! made me strong"- Illuminati made him strong
"I know what they don't wanna tell you"
"Wisdom is bleak and thats a word from the wise"
"Served to survive, murdered and bribed and when it got to heavy I put my burdens aside"

It just keeps going

I don't believe this stuff

I don't believe this stuff is ridiculous or anything, but I believe some of this is way too much of it is thought into where it is not to one's benefit. Lebron did wear 6 in the olympics, Kobe wore 33 in high school, so I don't know if that is enough to make me consider them part of illuminati. I don't think Kareem is because he wore 33, or Ewing who also wore 33.

I agree some of it is blown

I agree some of it is blown out of proportion, but there is so much of this going around right now. I mean you look at rappers and basketball players, this symbolism and acknowledgement of the Illuminati is everywhere. 2PAC told us &$#%#&@! was happening, and then he got taken out. Michael Jackson was supposedly about to speak out on the Illuminati and he drops. Wait to see what, if anything, happens to Chris Brown.

I'm loving this thread, real good conversation going on here.

M DYMES, I agree great

M DYMES, I agree great conversation. Yeah, Tupac I see as the exception to the rule because of how much of an impact he had on everything, I don't think guys like Jay-Z and Lebron are in the same category. I do think agree that everything happens for a reason, but I do believe that people are naturally good, and fame and fortune make them do bad things. Look at Tiger. Idk a lot of this is confusing.

I honestly don't know, but I

I honestly don't know, but I think a lot of these lyrics have satanic messages. We're just too busy bobbing our heads to notice them. I can almost guarantee you that a lot of people don't even know what these artists are talking about. We just assume it's something we should repeat and utter out of our mouths because it sounds good.

Kanye West's song, "Love Lockdown" for example... I don't feel like he's talking to a woman.

Tezo, sorry I am too used to calling you that over your current user name, please forgive me.

Good Call on that Kanye song, just looked up the lyrics, I don't listen to Kanye. But this lyric says something.

See I wanna move but can't escape from you
So I keep it low, keep a secret code

I am not saying that means illuminati, but it definitely doesn't mean a women. I mean it could imply that he is gay, he can't escape being gay, but just doesn't tell anyone. It could be other things besides illuminati is what I am saying.

knicksfan7, Tupac was an

knicksfan7, Tupac was an illuminati member but after he was sent to jail he decided to end it and began to speak out against them with Killuminati. He was put on their hit list then and one of the theories of his death is that the illuminati killed him. Another theory is that he faked his own death to escape the illuminati (doubt it though, those autopsy photos are pretty damn real IMO, and I've seen dead people and witnessed autopsies first hand). Gotta respect him for coming out with that. He was a symbol of what the illuminati stood for before, and despite all the tats that still labeled him a member, he went and pulled a 180. Admirable.

Do you think that illuminati

Do you think that illuminati is just some secret society that everyone must join once they become big no matter how young or old they are. Take someone like Justin Bieber, he's 16, but do you think he is part of illuminati, I am sure that illuminati is colorless society.
