the best player people are barely starting to hear about

marqus blakely. I've had the pleasure of watching this kid for the last three years shine at vermont. people finally started to hear about him with him winning the dunk contest this year. i knew he would be in it. he is always the most athletic player on the floor. he has no nba offensive game for his size. he is decent dribbling and no shot at all but his talent is too much to pass up for the mid to late 2nd round. he is 6'5'' with a seven foot wingspan. it doesnt matter that he is only 6'5'' with a wingspan like that. he can reach higher than most taller sg/sf in the league. his wingspan and athleticism allow him to steal and block shots at an nba level. it doesnt matter that he played in an average mid major conference. he performed well no matter who he played. he had a couple 4+ steals and 4+ blocks games against pitt and rutgers. how many other players did? his team won the pit tournament for seniors and its not a coincidence. this kid is what you want in a 2nd round pick. a role player. his defense and rebounding is too much for teams to pass up. he could excel in a run and gun team. that fits his offense best right now. a couple years in a developmental league wouldnt hurt either. he is also an underrated passer and averaged around 4 assist this year dominating the post at pf.

hmm

Sounds a little like George Hill, atleast physically. But late 2nd sounds about right, especially with his troubles on the offensive end.

i've seen him play, really good athlete, raw, undersized post but i dont think NBA teams want a 6'5'' power forward

Yea he's too short. And he

Yea he's too short. And he doesn't have the stength, wide body, or the offensive game to make up for it. You have to have those 3 things to make it if your painfully short, ask DeJuan Blair, the posterchild of the PF with the height of an NBA SG.

how much does the 7 foot

how much does the 7 foot wingspan make up for the lack of height though. it gives him a couple inches atleast if not more plus athletic ability
