2010 College Basketball Coaching Changes and potential replacements
DePaul would be so dumb if they didn't keep Tracey Webster as their coach....he has the ability to nab the Jacob Pullens and DJ Coopers of the world that somehow DePaul lost out on....

I won't be surprised if Stevens takes the money, but I won't be surprised if he stays and Butler gives him a nice raise. I don't want to see Stevens leave Butler, I can see him winning a national championship with Butler one day if he stays.
the fact that Stevens left a great job in the corporate world to take an unpaid job at Butler makes me think he ain't tryin to go to Oregon.....
I dunno. Someone walks into your house talking 4-5 million a year? Could make you change your mind.
I also think Stevens should wait because I believe the UCONN and UCLA jobs will be opening soon.
To say no way Butler can win title is a bit off considering what they did this season. They can get better recruits now and could be returning everyone that there is no reason to think Butler can't win it all one day, maybe soon. Also, Butler getting an invite to the Big East or the Big Ten is unlikely even if conference realignment happens.
The only job I could see Stevens ever taking if it opened up is either Purdue or Indiana because they are high profile schools in the state of Indiana where he is from. I just don't see him the type of guy to leave the state that gave him all his opportunities.
knicksboy, you think the ben howland is getting fired soon?
ben howland did struggle the last 2 seasons, but look how many guys have been leaving early. 3 straight trips to the final 4 buys you more time then missing the tournament once.
I completely agree with the comments made by llperez22 above. Ben Howland is one of the great coaches in college basketball and UCLA will once again be very successful under his leadership.
thanks rtbt. I know college coaching is a what have you done for me lately deal, but ben led northern arizona to the ncaa tournament, then led pitt to multiple 1st place finishes in the big east then led ucla to 3 straight final 4's and 5 straight tournament appearnaces. Then he misses one year and we are already talking about his future replacement? That's a littel harsh knicksboy.
I dunno.
He lost two big players ( Kevin Love, Russell Westbrook)
Losing out on 3 big recruits at the time. Morgan, Moser and Gordon. I think that's a warning sign IMO
cant really blame a coach for losing guys who go top 5 in the draft (westbrook, love) As for the other 3, morgan never looked that good and probably realized he needed to leave to get minutes. Gordon was a big loss and he said it had to do with the system being to slow and halfcourt. I didnt realize moser had left.
But he is still pulling recruits. Josh Smith is a top 10 recruit. I forget his name, but the sg from matre dei is a top 50 recruit who will help right away. Howland has earned time to bring in players and unless he missed the tournament again next year, i would be surprised if his job was in jeopardy. Malcolm lee leaving would be a huge hit, but if he returns alongside nelson, andersen, honeycutt, lane and the incoming freshman, they will make a run at a top 25 spot no question.
Out of all the schools in the country for basketball Wake Forest is the most underachieving school in the country. The amount of talent they have had year in and year out they should be able to make it to the sweet 16 on that alone.
GatHator,
I think that is true, and Wake Forest gave it to him right away so recruits would not go elsewhere, and would wait and see how he did. Now after 3 years, they just see they can do better with another guy, a guy they want.
Wake Forest would have not hired Capel, Tubby Smith would be a head and shoulders better choice. I am not saying Jeff Capel is the problem, but something is really wrong with Oklahoma right now having the whole team's core leave that only went 500.
Wake Forest has hired Jeff Bzdelik (Colorado)
Dan Leibovitz resigned as head coach at Hartford to become assistant at Penn
Clemson has hired Brad Brownell (Wright St)
Multiple media outlets are reporting Creighton coach Dana Altman has agreed to take over at Oregon, according to an ESPN.com report on Saturday.
