UK will have only 4 returning guys.... Liggins, Miller, Hood and Harrelson.
Talk about rebuilding.
Even if this is what will happen, I'm sure the recuiting class will be great again. What's the starting price for recuits now days? Sure Coach Cal can afford it.
If this were to be the case im sure UK would be fine. Think about it this way, Players all want to play for Coach Cal. If you take a look at all of the remaining undecided players who are around the McDonalds all american level, they all have UK on their lists. They are waiting to see who is going to come back next year and if they'll get playing time. If cal picks up CJ leslie, Brandon Knight, and Josh Selby they'll be the SEC favorites once again
Yeah Kentucky will have a new starting 5 with Knight Selby Leslie Kanter and any other forward they get...maybe Terrence Jones...eVery top recruit has kentucky on their top list. Kentucky is officailly an NBA minor league system now. Thats why they will never win an NCAA Championship...They will always have Too mnay star Freshmen and no veterens every year.
I say that liggins will improve alot and could work his way in as a starter as well. Kanter is going to have eligablitiy issues and i expect him to miss about 8-10 games, similar to Denis Kilcli from WVU this year. They may have to go very small if they cant get a recruit besides
They may also get Terrance Jones. Also you cant sleep on Stacey Poole, he may be a starter next year. He's one of the high schoolers nobody knows but everyone probably should.
Well Kilici missed 20 games so why do you think Kanter would miss only 10. And Kentucky will be fine, they'll get Knight and Poole, and have a chance at Leslie, Selby, and Jones.
Oh wow he missed that many? nvm. but hopefullly they (the NCAA) wont try to make an example out of Kanter. Im pretty sure he played without pay in Turkey but you never know what the ncaa will do.
If they were to have just Knight and Poole playing in the backcourt that would still be the best starting backcourt in the SEC. I could see their only problem being size on the interior with Kanter serving suspension. I dont think they really want Harrelson starting so lets say they get CJ Leslie and Terrance Jones. Who would guard a 5? say a player like Patric Young at Florida. They would be very succeptable to big, strong interior players. But besides that it seems like they would be fine.
Doron Lamb is also considering UK.
I don't get why he even would leave. Jodie was a million times better and look what he's doing.
Off topic, does anyone else think that if Meeks would have stayed, we would have made it to the championship? I mean he could have made up for some of those 28 missed 3's
They are saying his leaving is not basketball related. That being said, he must have had academic issues or major off court issues.
It's not sure that Orton or Bledsoe will stay in the draft, they can still retire their name. To me Kentucky will recruit CJ Leslie and Brandon Knight, I think Selby will go to Kansas. Concerning Kanter, a new NCAA rule states that overseas players who played with pros but were not paid will not be suspended, that means that Kanter wion't be suspended at all next year, this rule has been passed just weeks ago.
I'm surprised to hear Dodson's name. You would think next year would be a great opportunity to hopefully show an improved all around game assuming he worked hard this summer, but nobody knows the circumstances. There is part of me thinking not sure why Orton put his name in, but realistically there are going to be teams reaching on centers. Cousins has the biggest upside and I see Aldrich as a guy that can start 10 or more years in the league, but after that there really isn't anyone remotely useful at the position. I think this is going to be what kills UK's chances to win a championship. Every year is going to be a rebuilding year. This year they managed to bring in two guys who were first team all Americans at two crucial positions to a team that already had a dominate 4 guy, so this was really about as good of a team as they may field for awhile. John Wall has flaws as does Cousins, but Wall is a a player that to me seems to be a very unique one with his clutch play and you never see centers come in that have the mobility, footwork and rebounding and scoring of a guy like Cousins. If you do, the guy has been in college at least a few years.
As for Meeks, if he came back it would have definitely upped their chances, but I don't see an extra season helping his draft stock as he had about as good of a year as he could have.
DeMarcus Cousins, Patterson and Wall are the only guys on their team that are NBA ready right now.:
Darnell Dodson is a shooter who can't do anything else. And yes, he does seem to have some character issues. He was suspended for a game or 2 earlier in the season because of conduct detrimental.
Bledsoe has potential, but he doesn't seem like he'll be more than a backup. I think he can be at best similar to Kyle Lowry, who is a very good change of pace guard. He has looked poorly when given chances to play PG this year (like Lowry did when Nova had those 4 great guards that year), and his defense, strength and athleticism make him a good change of pace player.
Orton isn't a good offensive player at all yet, and even though he's a nice defender/shot-blocker, he's mostly raw and isn't liekly to play for at least his 1st 2 years. I think at best he's a Kendrick Perkins type who's at best a 4th or 5th option offensively, but provides tough inside D and nice shot-blocking. He does seem to be more athletic than Perkinms though.
I'm pretty sure that Patrick Patterson is ready for the league along with Wall and Cousins.
That's a given
Yea. Sorry. Patterson too. I'll edit that
Exactly...Kentucky will always be a top 10 to 15 team talent wise...but in terms of NCAA championship contention...they will always be too young because the guys they recruit will always leave before they fully develop themselves and grow as a team completely...will be fun to watch every year though...Kentucky has the resources to pull the FAB 5 repeat every year now with Calipari.
you may have heard of it....RELOADING.....believe me, the last team I have sympathy for in terms of talent on their roster will be Kentucky....
