bestest nba mock draft
please comment good and bad
You need to pay attention to team needs, you are qay off with most of your picks. The first half isn't bad as far as having the right players in the lottery but most are with the wrong team. The 2nd half is an absolute mess(here's a few examples). Collins pushed himself out of the first round with his tourney play and Brackins has no shot at the 1st round after having a down year.
*SLAP* Utah *SLAP* will not *SLAP* draft *SLAP* a shooting guard *SLAP* with Monroe *SLAP* and Aldrich *SLAP* still on the board! *SLAP* *SLAP* *SLAP*
Everybody thinks that Utah is going to draft Henry, Anderson or Aminu. Even though us intelligent Jazz fans tell you otherwise. Shame, shame on you... Shame on you...
I also have trouble seeing Golden State drafting Cousins, but maybe that's just me.
Brackins in Orlando is interesting... Very interesting... As is Alabi in Boston...
Varnado too high, Vesely too low.
Interesting mock draft... Very good. (EXCEPT THE JAZZ PICK!!! GRRRR!!!)
Bestest? What are we 5?
i like top 5... but then Anderson 8? Xavier out of lottery? Avery higher than X? Also i don't think Kings would pick Whiteside if Johnson still would be here.
butidonthavemoney....wats so wrong about the Jazz drafting a 2-guard? I know a bigman might also be a need, but since they traded Brewer theres also been a small hole at the SG spot
Mathews, Korver, and Miles arent exactly your ideal wing men
I agree with the fact that you actually had cousins going to Golden state because they always have another guard goin to them. Also I belive the sixers will get Wes Johnson and most people got them getting whiteside even though they don't need a bigman and need a shooting guard.
Sixers do need a big man, who exactly is there Center when Dalembert is traded or not resigned next year?
First off, Utah traded Ronnie Brewer because of Wesley Matthews, who they are very high on. Kyle Korver is a vital piece (and the best shooter in the NBA, 56% from three), and CJ Miles has been playing very well as of late. Andrei Kirilenko, when playing like he has been, is one of the best small forwards in the NBA, and according to 82Games, is the most productive player on the Jazz in terms of +/-. Ronnie Price plays shooting guard sometimes as well. So I think the Jazz are fine on the wings.
James Anderson is no better of a prospect than CJ Miles in any way (CJ is stronger, a better defender, a MUCH better passer) besides a two year age difference, and his style of play doesn't click with Jerry Sloan anyway (see Morris Almond). Besides if the Jazz drafted Anderson at 8, we would be paying him almost as much as CJ Miles, and we would have to spend 2-3 years teaching him the Utah Jazz system. Not going to happen.
The only way the Jazz draft a wing player, is if we can get an upgrade over our most expendable player currently on the wing (CJ Miles). That means the Jazz would consider drafting Johnson, Turner and Wall. I know the Jazz, we are not going to throw money at a player that we don't need. I also know the type of players that will NOT be sucessful as a Jazz player due to Sloan and his system.
Trust me, the Jazz will absolutly NOT draft Anderson, Henry or Aminu, unless we trade down and Monroe and Aldrich (two perfect Sloan-types who fill a need) are off the board.
If the Jazz do not plan on re-signing Booze, than that only strengthens the need for a post player.
Trust me on this.
Proof Korver is statistically the best shooter in the NBA ---> http://www.nba.com/statistics/player/3PointS.jsp?league=00&season=22009&...
And the Jazz haven't a problem scoring since the post-John Stockton/pre-Deron Williams days. Welsey Matthews and Andrei Kirilenko are the main reasons the Jazz are playing are playing so well defensively. CJ Miles and Kyle Korver may not seem like good defenders to the non-Jazz fan, but both work hard. Miles is improving a lot defensively and Korver is a very good defender when he isn't guarding terribly quick players (combo guards have always given him a lot of trouble). Besides free-throw shooting, I have no complaints about the Utah Jazz rotation on the wings and I can't imagine that management does either.
Do the Jazz want to throw away their newfound defensive prowess for another chucker (Anderson or Henry)?
Oh yeah? Matthews sucks John Bryants balls, they need a two guard even John Bryant would be an upgrade now, Charles Garcia is the perfect pick.
You should stop. I know you think that nobody will find out your real account, but the admins can block your IP. Just a heads-up.
I have to think they have their eye on a center with their pick....their will be more than one to be had wherever they pick I would have to think.....and Samuel Dalembert is cool but I think its time to move on from him....they wouldn't mind a PG but there won't be one worth their pick....
Bledsoe doesn't seem like an improvement over Holiday. So if the Sixers don't get a top 2 pick, they should go big.
I guess Whiteside makes sense for their team/style. However I think they can get higher value at their current position. Monroe could run up and down with them.
Needs work, but not a bad template.
I have them taking Monroe....if they take Whiteside they could end up back at square one with a more expensive Dalembert....and I think the Sixers are a team that thinks that despite their struggles this year that they are good enough to win now.....Monroe gives them a better chance to do that....taking a wing makes no sense for them really in the same way taking a big makes no sense for Minny...
I don't know butIdonthavemoney I agree with you on every point, except AK gets injured a ton. When he is out our Starting SF is YIKES CJ Miles. (too small, to me, only 6'6, and that's a stretch.) He is too thin to guard the athletic 3's that this league has. The Jazz need someone who can replace AK once he is injured. So this is why I actually see the Jazz drafting Aminu.
I would prefer Wes Johnson, but since the Knicks are playing well(darn them) they will probably get the 7 or 8 pick. By then Johnson will be long gone probably. So we might trade up or just settle for Aminu. If I were KOC, I would look into trading up with possible Washington. They also need a SF but would probably not mind trading down to select Aminu. (this is how we got Dwill in 2005. We had the 6th pick but we traded up to the 3 to get Dwill, we might do this again)
Wizards pick at 8 and select Aminu
Jazz pick at 4 and select Johnson. Trade before draft to get 4th.
Nice mock, but i saw some mistakes in it;
first: Whiteside to the Kings?? what´s happen with Hawes?? they will trade him? I don´t think so...
second: Motiejunas to the Clippers? and where´re Griffin, Kaman,Jordan...third
and third: I think Alabi could be near to the lottery pick, and Vasquez and off course Warren must be in the first round.
CJ Miles has buffed up substantially. He is listed at 230, which is more than Aminu currently weighs (around 215). CJ Miles actually measured up to be 6'7" in shoes, while Aminu was measured (about a year ago) at 6'8".
As for Andrei, he is injured now, but Aminu is not nearly as skilled, long or strong as our Russian assault rifle. I do agree that we should have a better 5th option than Jeffers, but we should waste such a high draft pick on injury insurance.
Wesley Johnson is a different story. He would be excellent in the Jazz system, and will probably be picked between 5-9. I know the Jazz worked their magic to trade up to get D-Will, but I'm not so sure we can do the same this year. Welsey Johnson is third on my "Utah Jazz Draft Board" behind only Turner and Wall, so if we got him I would be estatic.
he could end up being the over the hump player the Jazz need.....but I think the jazz could also go big because although they do already have a center, Boozer (gone after this year) is their only real post presence....and they are also at the spot in the draft where they should have a choice of big guys kind of like Philly so I don't know why they don't take someone like that......although they could use help on the wing....without Boozer I guess what I would be looking for is some sort of scoring period.....
If Booze leaves, that changes everything for the Jazz. I could see them drafting Patterson, but I would prefer drafting somebody who could also play center. You forget about Millsap, who is also a real post presence, and has had MONSTER games when Booze was out with injuries this season.
The Jazz have plenty of scorers. Don't worry about them scoring.
Can you explain to me why Aminu is a better prospect than Damion James, Stanley Robinson, Devin Ebanks, John Henson, etc...? I just don't see it. I've scouted him and I really don't understand why he is a top ten pick while similar players aren't even considered locks for the lottery. I feel like I am missing something important.
interesting......its funny how fans of there teams think they KNOW who there team is gonna draft...lol...news up date...fans dont know who there teams will draft anymore then nonfans. theres not a news outlet that only fans have access that the teams leak out info to.
on another note...i dont think aminu was ever measured at the nba predraft camp so any measurement before that is not 100 percent accurate
as far as cj miles i doubt that hes 6'7..played with and against him half of the summer last year and he looked alot closer to 6'6. i could be wrong but if he is 6'7 then ive grown a good inch since i was last measured a couple of years ago. he did get bigger though and stronger i might add( wasnt to hard to body him up the year before but alot harder this past year.
pretty happy ill be going back in a coupel of days because those summer runs are nice...for anyone who live in the utah area come to taylarsville rec on mondays weds fris and sundays during the summer(9am-12pm). you wont get to play because its invite only but you will get to watch
what im curious about is if boozer stays what are they gonna do with millsap because he signed his deal with the idea that he would be there future pf and starting this year
I was wondering that too. Utah is too cheap to keep both Sap and Booze.
"interesting......its funny how fans of there teams think they KNOW who there team is gonna draft...lol...news up date...fans dont know who there teams will draft anymore then nonfans."
The Jazz are a pretty easy team to predict, so any Jazz fan should have some idea about what they are thinking. They are freakishly consistant. They are very loyal (look at Sloan, KOC, Stock, Hot Rod, ect...), they are very smart, they have been running the same system for a long time, they have a small market, and they only draft a certain kind of player (D-Will over CP3 for example). Most Jazz fans know that they are not going to draft DeMarcus Cousins under any circumstances, and that we are NOT going to spend any more money than we have to.
Think of marketing demographics, they can't tell what people are thinking, but they study, learn and can try to predict what the best course of action is to market their product.
i dont think so because i remember while living in utah that the fans and radio stations there predicted the jazz drafting different guys then the jazz actually drafted. the jazz were actually going after chris paul..he was 1 on there draft board
fans out there also did think they would pick..almond,cj,millsap,arujo,stevenson( he was the biggest suprise because he was a highschool player)
and i can tell you fans that live in utah are the biggest fans...theres a coupel radio stations i listened to every single day i lived out there and hear on and on and on and on about the jazz...which is understandable since theres no pro team out there ( the blaze dont count) and no baseball team) the bee's dont count) the only thing that gets more pub is utah and byu football
I did forget about him (duh me)......but I agree with what you said about a guy who can play center too....Monroe makes sense yeah????
and Aminu is better than those guys for these reasons.....1) Robinson has severe character questions....if someone tells me Demarcus Cousins has character questions they should draft Robinson if they want some real character problems....2) The rest of those guys are bad tweeners.....Aminu on the other hand is a 3 who can maybe play the 4 and is an elite athlete.....also has tons of room to grow.....but I agree that Henson is probably a better prospect 5 or 6 years down the road, but that is not a knock on Aminu....
And you know, it's not like the pre-draft measurements are the ONLY measurements that are correct. Measurements are measurements. I said that it was a year ago (actually 8 months), so I don't see what your point is.
CJ Miles is listed as 6'7" on TV, but I can't find any major sources online that say the same, so I guess 6'6" is more accurate.
1. I actually predicted the Jazz would draft Almond and Miles.
2. The Jazz didn't draft Haffa.
3. If Chris Paul was higher on our draft board, why didn't we draft him?
4. Stevenson and Snyder were not typical Jazz draft picks, but they also were not as important as this pick.
5. I don't live in Utah and I never have, so I don't know anything about the radio stations.
Midwest - I would rather have James right now. Aminu is a lot younger, but other than that I think James is better at everything.
ok so you can only speak for you when you say what you said about who they draft
and no measurements arent measurements.. there are plenty of times where guys get measured before the predraft measurements and some how they magically shrink. its the same thing as players who have there 40time timed before the nfl combine. there its offical. at other places they can add a inch here or a half a second there because thats gonna help them get drafted higher. thats common knowledge. why dont you think the nba or nfl dont just take these oother places word for it when they get timed or measured?
I'll tell you what, if the Jazz draft Henry, Anderson or Cousins, I will delete my account and never post again. I swear.
For the record, I was trying to give the owner of the mock feedback, because he asked for some. I wasn't even talking to you. Nobody asked you to judge my comments.
wasnt judgesing you comments was just correcting you when you said "Most Jazz fans know that they are not going to draft DeMarcus Cousins under any circumstances" because you dont speak for most jazz fans you only speak for youre self as a jazz fan. dont get bent out of shape over it. it is what it is. there are many fans for other teams who like a team but dont speak for the other fans they only speak for there self.
Ahhh, check. Then just to be clear...
I don't think the Jazz will draft DeMarcus Cousins. If they do, I will be wrong. Not my fellow Jazz fans.
tru true. you may just be right..ill know more when i get to utah on the weekedn and start listening to the fans on the show or if i talk to millsaps uncle if he still comes to ball on the weekdays since the older millsap is out of the country balling right now
