Mcdonald's All American dunk contest/3pt shootout
i used to think so untill i saw how guys got shorter at the nba draft measurments
Hey Trinajoe, I'm sure the fans remember in 2006-07 when Noah, Horford and Florida beat Oden and Ohio St in the National Championship. Though I'm sure the football only helps.
Perry Jones is tall, long and athletic, really impressive athletic wise and can put his head at the rim easily. For the three point contest, Bullock is automatic from three, he reminds me of William Buford from Ohio State.
where i could download it..it was night in my country i couldn't watch it :(
I read online that Josh Selby won the Dunk Contest and Cory Joseph took the 3 point shooting, though one of the women's McDonalds All-Americans going to Penn State shot a 22 that was definitely the high. Supposedly hearing that Selby is just an athletic beast in the practices. Others I have heard are impressing are CJ Leslie, Perry Jones and Reggie Bullock just off pure shooting. The game should be very interesting, though I think on pure talent, the Jordan game could easily be just as good if not better. I am starting to realize that while the McDonalds game usually does get a number off the top players, a lot of it seems to be politics. Seems that if you commit to a top school, you have odds on better chances of making the game, and while there is no doubt most of the best players in the NBA or college tend to be McD's AA, there are a number who get shown out once they get to college. Just because your school is getting a McDonald's All-American, it does not at all mean this player will turn around your college team. The names that come to mind for me would be Vernon Macklin (who never stuck around at G-Town, and is doing alright for Florida, but never came close to billing), Jai Lucas, Larry Drew III, I think the Wear twins got it just because they were 6'9 twins playing for Mater Dei and I went to Oregon and Michael Dunigan has been very average to mediocre. We had two great ones in Ridnour and Brooks, but Dunigan went to Farragut, committed to the Ducks and I think there are a number of better post guys out there. I truly hope we get a CJ Leslie, Josh Selby and the most likely guy would assumably be Terrence Jones, who went to Jefferson, though I have a feeling we will get none of those players, unless Izzo really does take the job ;). But all those guys are real, and I used to think McDonalds snubs were just sour grapes, but I think there are a number of guys who did not make the team that will kill some of the fringe McD's guys in college.
Josh Selby is very explosive.
I think Baylor is going to get a good scoring threat in Perry Jones next year. He's very similar to Gerald Green right now, except he's going to go to college, which will make him better equipped for the NBA.
Harrison Barnes seems like a guy that can do alot of things well offensively.
Ray McCallum has WAY more hops than I ever though. I watched him play this summer on ESPN U in some event. He will be a very good player, because he's also a good passer from the PG spot and a decent shooter.
How is Perry Jones similar to Gerald Green? Jones is 6ft 11in. and Green is a SG.
They have the same exact skill set and similar athleticism (Green being more explosive) and Gerald Green was a SF too alot of the time. Jones is just 2 inches taller
i can see the comparisio..both athletic freaks both get lost out there in a real game sometimes. both dont play up to there potential many times. both gets out played sometimes by a player who isnt as skilled. both make peopel pull out there hair because they are soooo talented and have more potential then most players they play against yet they dont produce like you expect
