will the winner of the tournament be the worst title winning team in the modern era
in my opinion it is...i stated that as well..and then asked if other people argeed. in reality we dont know because we cant put this years champ in other seasons or have them play against other champs. therefore everything i or anyone else says is just an opinion
but this is why the ncaa tournament is the best playoff in sports bc on any given night any team could win, unlike the nba playoffs were a team has to win 4 games a series which usually makes the higher seed win so theres a good finals. the idea of u never know whose gonna win is the best part..where would steph curry be if the ncaa tournament was so good..he prob would be a lottery pick but everyone would be sayin no way hed be the 6th pick bc everyone said he never played against good competion

as far as surprises go, at the time of game I was more surprised that they won than any other team in which I watched as an EDUCATED fan (cir. 1990) or so....now that I look back at it though they were the trail blazers in the player for hire trend that is flooding the game today.....Mike Bibby that was similar to Carmelo in 03 in that he was probably the best player in the country that year only people either hadn't seen enough of him or they refused to give that kind of cred to a freshman.....I was probably equally surprised when Duke beat UNLV in the '91 Final 4 too....
also I forgot another team that would be worse than either this year's Duke or West Virginia for sure and probably Butler....86 Louisville....that was a big upset at the time....in 4 years NC State, Villanova and Louisville were 3 of the biggest upsets ever and they were revolutionary as they caused a ton of rule changes in the college game...
ummm no mike bibby wasnt the best player in the country that year...he wasnt even the best on his team that year..miles simon was..bibby was a good freshman but to call him the best in the country wouldbe going overboard. arizonia was on tv a couple of times and i dont know too many peopel who were suprised that they got there because of the talent they had and thats before anyone knew how good some of them would be as pros. i was on th east coast at the time and knew about arizonia and watched there games so i can imagin people on the west and midwest being able to see more of there games then i did
also melo wasnt the best player in the country the year they won it either. if im not mistaken he was second team all american that year

Yeah, I am just messing around. I know what you mean. Agreed about it being the most significant upset though.
