The Wizards went from hopeless to a improving team overnight.

I was saving this for later but

The Washington Wizards are going to be a very interesting team this offseason. They have 3 young players in Blatche, Young and McGee who got some more PT since the deals and Blatche has taken off. I believe Blatche at best is a #3 guy because he seems to STILL have the issue to wander off in games.

The Wizards also own 3 picks in the top 35. If they land the 1st overall pick- I believe they take Evan Turner. If they get a pick between 4-7, I would trade down maybe add another pick but this time 3 months ago?? They did not have this flexibility

What do you think?

They need a PG, the goal of basketball is to win a championship and I just don't see the Wizards winning one with Gilbert Arenas on the team. Also, I don't see Young as a good 2 guard, he is kinda selfish and alittle under-sized for his position. I do think Blatche and McGee are good building blocks, but they still need a lot of work.

they still wont be near a

they still wont be near a playoff team for a couple of years but should be going in the right direction. each player has a lot of learning to do before becoming a factors that lead to alot of wins

Honestly, I question whether or not Gilbert Arenas really is a point guard or not. There are stretches in games where he's going one of one with the defender for long stretches of the game and all his teammates can do is watch. It will really be interesting to see how the Wizards offseason shapes out. They have the capspace but I just don't know if any top tier or 2nd tier free agents would want to play with the Wizards. I know that there will be a strong interest from the Wizards for Manu Ginobli. Last offseason if anyone can recall, the Wizards offered their 5th overall pick for Ginobli but the Spurs simply said no.

and iverson never won

and iverson never won anything. That's what Im saying, the Wizards will never win anything as long as Arenas is on the team, I have no clue why the gave him such a big contract, you can't win with a guy like that.

Give these guys about 2 more

Give these guys about 2 more years. They remind me soooo much of the Hawks back when they were terrible.

They have an elite player (Gilbert Arenas/Joe Johnson)
A talented, versatile malcontent (Andray Blatche/Josh Smith)
A jack of all trades 6th man (Mike Miller/Josh Childress)
A long center with nice upside (JaVale McGee/Al Horford)
A scoring PG who's not really a PG (Randy Foye/Tyronn Lue)
A coach that everyone wants gone but could be a nice fit if given time (Flip Saunders/Mike Woodson)
An athletic scorer with potential who everyone thinks will break out (Nick Young/Marvin Williams)

They are alot alike and the Wizards have some nice pieces on their team. They'll be pretty good, possibly as soon as next season. Maybe not .500, but they could sneak into the playoffs.

@Quincey: I see what your saying, he is good and brings in alot of money and that is why they gave him a contract. You can make the playoffs and have some success with that type of guy, but you can't win championships.

The goal of any team is a championship and with Gilbert I don't see it, Iverson is a prime example.

You give Iverson players

You give Iverson players like Butler, Haywood and Jamison? They win a title.

@knicksboy: I don't think

@knicksboy: I don't think so, if they never pass the ball those players won't contribute and the chemistry of the team won't be good. A guy with the ball in his hand that much needs to give the whole team involve and create good chemistry, Gilbert does not, neither would Iverson if he had those players.

yeah i feel you on that

yeah i feel you on that delfam...im sure we can say if this or that guy had these or this guy then they would win but we dont know...i doubt iverson would have won because some of us have seen what he does when hes had other stars on his team...jerry stackhouse...iverson doesnt work well with other stars....butler and antwan would definatly not work

Iggy I'm having a hard time

Iggy I'm having a hard time seeing the Josh Smith/Andray Blatche comparison. Heres why...

Josh- Hustles Andray- Doesn't
Josh- Plays D Andray- Doesn't

I wasn't really comparing

I wasn't really comparing them like that, just the types of ego's and roles they have. Andray Blatche and Josh Smith don't really play that much alike to me at all.

I'm a Wizards fan. If they get the #1 overall pick, they will not draft Evan Turner, they will draft John Wall and move Gilbert Arenas to SG. The Wizards need a PG that can get other people involved.

I doubt they draft Turner.

I doubt they draft Turner. they could because they could use a SG, but as jman said, they need a PG who can distribute. Foye plays like a PG ever few quarters and then gets selfish. I think Wall and Arenas would be a very good backcourt. One that could make them playoff worthy as soon as next year, if Arenas is Arenas again.

"I doubt they draft Turner. they could because they could use a SG, but as jman said, they need a PG who can distribute."

I was under the assumption that people on this site said that Turner could distribute. score, do it all.

John Wall and Evan Turner are essentially the same player in my eyes.

But the majority assumption is that Wall has a higher upside/mismatch potential.

I dont care for either of them but @jnixon you are starting to seem really bias towards Wall to me.

1st it was the Devin Harris wasnt a leader in college remark and now this, I dont think you think things through sometimes.

All a point guard needs to do is push the tempo and force double teams in transition to get Arenas open looks.

Turner can guard bigger opponents shouldnt your argument b4 Turner, unless u think John Wall is going to be the Best Player Long Term Potential-Wise

In which case you should just say so instead of going through the "false pretense" of having thought to situational lineups and such.

Again I dont think either of them has separated themselves but seriously tho, that illogical sh*t ticks me off.
