John Wall is playng bad

John Wall is playng bad defense. Patrick patterson is not being aggressive in the paint if he takes a shot its mostly a three so far. Nobody on Kentucky can make a 3 this game so far. They are shooting bad from the free throw line. Thats a bad combination you can not miss 3's and free throws.

it isnt the refs fault..its

it isnt the refs fault..its wv fault for hitting all those threes. kinda hard for patterson to do much down low because wv is swarming him and cousins everytime they get it down low. the guards arent helping themout by hitting the outside shots which wouldmake the wv d have to play honest

Freshmen and Tournament Pressure

I thought for sure Kentucky would win the national championship. But tonight they were tested for the first time in the tournament and the pressure got to them. WV clogged up the lane, forcing Kentucky to shoot from the perimeter. You could tell from their body language how uncomfortable the Kentucky players were. They weren't even close.

And then guys who normally make foul shots were throwing up clunkers from the foul line. I think the young guys folded under the tournament pressure. Sometimes having nothing but blow outs is a bad thing because you need those close, pressure packed games to prepare mentally. Kentucky just wasn't ready tonight.

Having said that, I simply cannot believe how good John Wall is. He's only a freshman but he's one of the greatest college players I ever saw.

midwestbbscout, please don't say coaching was the difference. Kentucky lost because their guys felt the pressure and shot horribly from both the free throw line and the 3 point arc. They missed 13 foul shots and incredibly, misfired on 28 three point shots. Believe me, they were only a couple of shots away from getting back into the game and stealing the momentum from WV.

On the other hand, we should give WV tons of credit for playing a great game. They certainly earned and deserved that big win.

Dodson, Patterson and

Dodson, Patterson and Liggins were big reason why they lost. They kept shooting and they kept missing. Liggins can't even shoot at all and he took 3 3's I believe! Horrible..

Also John Wall and his lack of defense hurt too. He played defense like a bullfighter. Sticking his hand in and pulling them out as Mazulla drove by.

yeah they were some of the

yeah they were some of the reasons but not all..you can point to many things...walll,bledsoe defense is something that should be added, kentuckys team defense, bledsoe has to be including with the shooting and a coupel of simpel turnovers as well as wall. pretty much the whole team had a hand in them losing but the biggest hand was wvu's

Wow where to start...1st

Wow where to start...1st off...excellent game to watch!

The refs should be getting praise from Kentucky fans because from my perspective, they got almost all of the "close calls"...calls where it could go eitehr way...Kentucky seemed like they were getting all of those. So Kentucky fans shouldnt be blaming them at all.

John Wall is a fabulous player...he needs to work on his J...but so did Tony Parker, Derrick Rose, Westbrook...alot of really good guards. Speaking of Westbrook, thats who John Wall really reminds me of. I see Wall being one of those Triple double threats from a point guard position...he's a Russel Westbrook athletically and Jason Kidd's floor game potentially. He has phenomanl body control...when he drives to the rim, he does an unbelieveable job avoiding charges...cases where 90% of players would pick up a charge...Wall slithers around them and scores or sets someone up to score.

Patrick Patterson has frustrated me this year...he is one of my favorite players in college basketball, but he just doesnt seem comfortable in the role he played this year. He could be a 20 ppg type of player in alot of systems, but because of Cousins and Caliparis guard friendly system Patterson was overshadowed alot...props to him for not complaining at all and being a team first guy...that is a rarity these days. He struggled today, he couldnt hit a shot, and he took too many 3s. I really thought they should have isolated him on the block more often...he's a better passer than Cousins and can score just as well. I think he'll go to the NBA and be a really solid player for whoever drafts him, not spectacular but one of those glue guys who does the dirty work.

West Virginia played a phenomanal game defensively...they couldnt buy a basket in the 1st half, but they were suffocating defensively. They win ugly...but thy win ALOT. They are the epitome of a tough ballclub. Congrats to them for getting to the Final 4...and my bracket for picking them! my only saving grace cuz the rest of my bracket is completely gone.

Wall

he's got an ugly lookin jumper like Jason Kidd that's for sure......and yes their defense was awful.....getting burnt by Joe Mazzula that many times is inexcusable.....the guys who were supposed to help didn't even turn around until the ball was on the ground after it went through....

He's similar to Westbrook

He's similar to Westbrook offensively I agree. But he's a better finisher and he has a better mid-range game than Westbrook does, even now.

I think Westbrook is more

I think Westbrook is more muscular than Wall is. I don't know who's stronger, but Westbrook was built similar to Bledsoe in college.

NCAA Tournament Pressure

WV played a terrific game. Even though WV played their best game of the year, Kentucky has so much talent, they were almost back in the game at the end. This was the first time Kentucky was tested in the tournament and the pressure got to them. They missed an incredible 28 three point shots, which is almost unheard of. Yes Wall got that lucky one off the backboard, but you could tell from their body language, they had no confidence on their shots.

And along the way, Kentucky also missed 13 foul shots. Their young team could not handle the pressure of being behind for the first time. But in the end, give WV tons of credit for putting them in that position.

And I don't care what anyone else says about his minor flaws, John Wall is one of the greatest players I ever saw in college basketball.

lalaila, I think it's just the opposite. Despite the never ending commercial breaks [18] each game, this is what makes the NCAA Tournament so intoxicating. It's that unpredictability, and our natural tendency to root for the underdog, that makes it the most exciting tournament in sports.

Bad Game

I don't think it was a very good game. I think there were some exciting moments, but it was really a sloppy game. There were a lot of inexcusable turnovers, horrible defense and awful free throw shooting. A team that has an excellent inside combo in Patterson and Cousin and a point guard that can't be kept out of the lane in Wall, but the whole game the team is jacking up bricks from 3. It seemed like every guy that West Virginia had that played were sorry free throw shooters and then Kentucky had some pretty good free throw shooters that just choked at the line. I'm not surprised that WV won though, I saw them as a better version of TN who Kentucky had problems against. Anyone that watched UK play knew they were a team that would chuck 3s and had turnover issues. No one had more talent or depth than the team, but the teams that had a chance to beat them were teams that didn't kill themselves with turnovers and were athletic enough to make Kentucky pay for turnovers. A lot of teams forced UK into turnovers but couldn't capitalize because UK had the athletes to erase their own mistakes.
