Ok so you're telling me

Ok so you're telling me Derrick Favors is going from an average college shot blocker to an ELITE NBA shot blocker.

wall - steve francis. . .

wall - steve francis. . . super athletic alvin robertson

I dont really like this one. He's going to be better than steve francis

turner - stephen jackson

I dont really like this one either. Jack just shoots threes. One of the best qualities turner has is his midrange game and his ability to create with it off the dribble. All jack does is shoot when the ball touches his hands.

wesley johnson - jamario moon

I'd say that Wes has alot better feel to his game. You could say that once Wes is in the league, Jamario Moon would be the poor man's Wes Johnson

favors - josh smith

this is a terrible comparison. Josh Smith is a great shot blocker, maybe the NBA's best. As Dwade pointed out, Cousins isnt a great shotblocker. About all they have in common is they're both athletic. Smith has much more skill, he can play on the outside as well as inside, and a great deal of his offensive game is away from the basket. Favors NEVER does anything away from the basket, he's a player that can only succeed when when he has two feet in the paint.

cousins - jermaine o'neal (pacers)

I don't like this one either. Cousins has a shot to be a great player in the NBA and he doesnt really float around and play lackadaisically like O'Neal. He goes hard all the time and instead of using the midrange game he posesses, something O'Neal settles for 9 out of 10 times, he overpowers opponents and gets to the rim for an easier two.

greg monroe - chris webber

This is a pretty good one. A perimiter skilled big-man who can really pass it.

bledsoe - ronnie price

This is a bad one. Bledsoe will be worlds better than ronnie price. He's not going to be a 3rd string point in the league.

whiteside - deandre jordan

Whiteside is an athlete like DeAndre Jordan but Jordan has alot more strength. Whiteside is like the longer, weaker version of Jordan. I think Whiteside has more offensive game though.

@jdhl13

@jdhl13

Just because you compare someone to somebody doesn't mean they're going to be as good or as bad as the person they're being compared to.

as far as the francis

as far as the francis thing..thats pretty good. other then being faster then francis maybe. francis was just as athletic and when he was at his best he was a all star which is what some project wall to be. thats not far fetched at all

mine are

john wall- derrick rose/dwade. i think he is probably a better passer than both. its hard to say, he will be his own kind of player but it will be close to what they do, IMO.

derrick favors- its hard to judge him on his one year. he has the physical tools to be good but as of right now I cant think of who he compares to. he isnt the scorer amare is and isnt the shot blocker of a josh smith or d howard. i want to say he is like tyrus thomas but stronger.

demarcus cousins- dont take this wrong way but i think he is like a taller version of craig smith. and im thinking the craig smith i saw last night that had like 25 & 10 last night. high motor, doesnt quit, just a good tough player.

eric bledsoe- jameer nelson. maybe a little bigger and a better leaper. he obviously isnt as refined as nelson yet but i can see it happening in the future.

hassan whiteside- samuel dalembert. long and athletic bigman that can block and challenge alot of shots. rebounds well enough but may not be able to put on much weight. whiteside could become a better offensive player but i dont see more than 14ppg at his best.

greg monroe- vlade divac. skilled bigman with post skills and good passing ability. not very good athletes but smart enough to be a borderline all star for a few years.

I said earlier in the season

I said earlier in the season that Favors reminded me of Griffin when he was a freshman. I know it is somewhat pointless to compare him to a guy who nobody has seen play in the NBA yet, but they have similar size and athleticism. They both can make a healthy living just being an athlete around the hoop until their perimeter skills develop.

hmmmm in away i can see that

hmmmm in away i can see that minue the athletic ability. i think some people dont take into accoutn how long favors arms are and thinks hes jumping out of the gym when he isnt. hes also not as agressive as blake was as a freshman nor has that go hard that blake had. strip those things away and the comparision is pretty close

Favors

Is a very good athlete. Long arms or not. Can't penalize a guy for having a great wingspan can you? Also, those long arms project him as a very good defender on the next level.

i dont penalize him but hes not the athlete that blake, josh smith or amare is. he doesnt have the agressiveness not the go hard that either of those guys have or even gani has. ive seen himdunk under the basket on passes and oops but i cant say ive seen himput it on anyones head at anypoint unlike those other guys. ive looked all over youtube and watched most of his games and never saw it. ever

Many big men?

Stop exaggerating. Dude can straight up jump. Don't really care what you say. Ask any scout/website anybody Favors is an excellent athlete. Is he Amare? No, but he's pretty close.

" He’s incredibly gifted from a physical standpoint, showing a combination of length and athleticism that is simply unparalleled at the college level. He runs the floor like a deer, is outrageously explosive around the rim, and is a fantastic target for entry-passes thanks to his terrific hands and the amazing extension he gets around the basket. "

Try finding me an article or something that says he's an overrated athlete or w/e you think he is. Good luck...Doubt you'll find one.

Quincey, towards the end of

Quincey, towards the end of the season in the Carolina and Duke games Favors started to get a bit more assertive. When UNC was looking to make that run in the ACC tournament, Favors took over the game. He didn't take over the Duke game, but you cannot criticize his aggressiveness in that game. He spent a lot of the season just kind of blending and letting his athleticism carry him, but so did Griffin. When OU played Beasley and K-State a few years back, Griffin didn't even guard Beasley. He was the guy getting the quiet rebounds and the quiet points. It wasn't like OU ran that offense through him and got him the ball down low every time down as a freshman.

I am not seeing the Lamar

I am not seeing the Lamar Odom/Greg Monroe similarites other than the left hand and an ability to pass. Bad comparison IMO.
