Wesley Johnson Leaning Towards Staying in College
Wow, I know that for most basketball players, losing really does hurt especially when you're expected to win but he really has to enter the draft this year. He's going to be considered too old if he were to come back to college next year which will hurt his stock. The dude is a lottery pick and a potential top 5 pick. He turns 23 on July 11th.
Yea he needs to declare. 23 years old and still playing college ball doesn't look good, it makes it seem like your a "big bully" playing against younger guys dominating. He's a projected top 10 pick anyway.
he should go but his draft stock wont drop next year unless he plays bad
he should probably declare now but if he doesn't the Orange will be raw next year.....
I'd be stunned if he actually came back being projected as a top 5 pick. Guys are usually emotional immediately after a loss, but they usually settled down after a few days have passed.
after a few days of talking with the agents and family and thinking bout that contract and that possible lock out im pretty sure he will declare
I've been a cuse fan forever....lately working in basketball I have become more neutral but I would still love to see Wes come back.....it would be OV for the Big East....
Johnson just lost so he may be a bit emotional. Wait til the agents start seducing him, talking about the NBA and big money to take. He's a top 6 pick for everybody so he will enter the draft that's a matter of time.
Jonny Flynn said that, too!!!!!
no way he comes back - guys always say things like this after a loss - they're emotional and once they have time to settle down, they're a little more rational about the decision --- if he improved his handle he'd really be an awesome prospect, but at what cost? another year in college when he's already a lottery pick? it doesn't make a whole lot of sense
plus ... johnson liked playing with rautins and he's gone, it's going to be a different team even with a strong recruiting class coming in ... and even if he was inclined to ignore all of those factors and return, the potential of an NBA lockout should still push him into the draft
Does he come from a family that has money? If his family is already rich he might just stay, with rautins gone his team won't be as good but their will never be a reason to take the ball out of his hands and he could step into being a better leader and get better perimeter skills.
A few days after Texas lost in the NCAA Tournament, Kevin Durant talked about how he wasn't sure if he would go pro or not and that he was seriously considering coming back as well. I got my hopes up for a bit, but sure enough, he (smartly) declared.
Johnson is just emotional right now because the game was less than 24 hours ago. Once he gets his head right, he'll know that his value will never be higher than it is now and he'll be gone.
