How do you think players that skipped college would have done in the NCAA?
When i ask this i mean players that actually commited to a school and still chose the NBA like Josh Smith,Sebastian Telfair,Robert Swift, etc.
For example i think shaun livingston would have played the 3 at duke and played a turkoglu type role for them...and hopefully would have put on some muscle/weight.
I think Gerald Green could've used college. He's a gifted talent and athlete, but he has no fundamentals and needed some college coaching. NBA coaches aren't going to be that willing to teach fundamental basketball because they have a bunch of grown men on the team who should know what they're. He would've learned some if he would've been under Coach Sutton for at least 1 year.
It depends on how long they stayed. I think most would have had some struggles their freshman seasons. Guys like Lebron, Amare, and D Howard would have been fine. But JR Smith, Gerald Green, Shaun Livingston, Robert Smith, etc would have probably had up and down seasons, IMO. I think Telfair would have been decent though.
Could you imagine Rashad McCants and J.R. Smith at UNC? Would've been alot of offense and alot of headaches for Roy Williams
yeah alot of guys would have struggled like a josh smith. i think howard would have had a hard time as wellbut still put up shaq type numbers when shaq was a freshman. i see josh having the type of impact favors had. i think amare would have did his thing though because of how aggressive he is plus he's always been pretty quick for a center/pf
Lebron has stated that he would have gone to unc so that would have been unfair for any other team.
i read somewhere that he said he would have gone to duke and played for coach k
from what ive been looking up the past couple of minutes i see a couple of reports of him saying he would have went to ohio state and a lot of recruiting people saying the same thing. kobe has said duke though
I know Amare said he would have gone to mempis and even wished he did a few years ago on espn
Telfair couldve used college too. Sebastian is a good passer but doesnt know how to run an offense like a normal PG should. He was way too raw for the NBA when he got drafted. If he spent at least two years in Louisville he couldve been a starting PG in the NBA
College is where you figure out what type of player you will be in the NBA. Look at Evan Turner he's gonna be a beast because he can do alot he's a triple threat(pass, shoot, dribble).Brandon Roy 4 years in school,Dwyane Wade 3 years. Carmelo only stayed 1 year but had an offense built aroung him so he was ready to be the 1st option in an NBA offense.Rajon Rondo he wasn't better than Livingston or Telfair coming out but went to college and now is a top 5 pg in the NBA.
A list of Players who needed college
JR Smith-2 years
Sebastian Telfair-2 years
Gerald Green- 3 years
Josh Smith-1 year
Amar'e Stoudemire- 1 year
Martell Webster- 4 years
Dwiight Howard-1 year
LeBron told Kenny Smith that he would've went to UNC on TNT 1time and we would see some of the worst shot selection ever if JR and Rashad McCants were on the same team
yeah lebron has told other peopel he would have gone to other schools as well. i guess we never know where he would have gone
Yeah, I wouldn't believe anything that man says. When he was a guest picker on College Gameday on the Ohio State campus, he said he would of picked Ohio State hands down. But he's also said he'd pick Duke and UNC, probably some others too.
Im sure it was a big inside joke between the 2 of them but there was a rumor in cuse that if Carmelo stayed then lebron would of come to cuse.
amare didn't need college, he got rookie of the year.
yeah but thats exactly what it was..a rumor...im guessing it was started by a cuse fan
Yeah, I say always say this til this day. If Telfair would've went to college, Louisville would've for sure won the title that year. And for his personal development also, he coulda used the experience. Really needed to hone his skills at the college level. He didn't really look like a can't miss prospect when he came out HS, as compared to Derrick Rose and John Wall coming out of HS. For most PG's however, there's not a good track record with those coming out after HS or one year except for the obvious.
