...

If Orton comes out this year I think he could have a similar career to John Amaechi, 10 points a couple rebounds here or there.

A more athletic, more

A more athletic, more offensively talented (you'll see that next year with the departure of cousins) but less strong, version of Perkins

Stanley Roberts or Roy Tarpley

A monster like Roberts with a nose for the ball like Tarpley.

not sure id say more

not sure id say more offensively talented. imsure perkins would have put up his numbers or better if he played college as a freshman. cant really compare his nba game to ortons college game offensively

Seriously, at worst...

At worst he could be Dampier. At best, he could be McDyess before knee surgery.

If he sticks around and lets

If he sticks around and lets his skills develop he could be similar to Alonzo Mourning skill-wise

Well Orton has the

Well Orton has the reputation of being a good Back to the basket player, albiet this rep was from his high school days, but it isnt often anymore that someone is talked about as a good back to the basket player. I'd say he's more talented on offense because he can do alot more than perkins. All of perkins points are manufactured by other celtics or come off of putbacks. Not a knock on perkins, he does it very well, but he has little in the way of an offensive game in terms of creating for himself.

I dont really like the

I dont really like the Aldrich comparison. I really think he has alot more upside. Aldrich is a better shot blocker but i dont think he's quite the same level of athlete and I really think by the time Orton is a junior (if he stays that long) His offensive game will be far more developed than aldrich's game is now

I like the Kendrick Perkins

I like the Kendrick Perkins comparison as well. Quite honestly I havent seen Orton do anything that would warrent a 1st round selection. He dunks the ball...thats not that special for a 6'11 260+ college player. He blocks some shots pretty well, but I dont know if you draft a player because he is a shot blocker at the college level. Whats the hype for? Why not come back for another 2 years and develop.

Idk could be wrong. But if

Idk could be wrong. But if you watch Kentucky, Orton is rarely in the flow of the offense. Cousins gets all the paint touches. I think Orton will be very good when he gets those same touches next year, however he may not, due to enes kanter coming in. I definately think Orton should come back next year. He's nowhere near ready

he doesnt get the touches

he doesnt get the touches because he cant really do much except dunk when hes under the basket. he doesnt have the foot work to warrent getting more touches

No...Al Forford is a basketball player...not a dunker. He displayed basketball skill. Orton has done no such thing. He is a big body, but cmon, to say that he has NBA potential is a sad sad statement...at this time. He needs alot of developing still.

I like the Al Horford

I like the Al Horford comparison as what he can be potentially. A solid shot blocker, defender, rebounder and a give who can give you a little bit a offense wit a some basic post moves.

Orton

is no joke....he was a top 10 player in many HS rankings and tops 20 in just about all of them....its hard to display your offensive rep when you have 2 lottery picks playing ahead of you....and when he's in the game its not like they're wearing out their vocal chords calling plays for him....

and who said all he can do is dunk when he's under the basket??? I pretty much consider that a good thing....that's what I would want my big man doing underneath the basket....

You think its a good thing

You think its a good thing when your big man is only effective when he's under the basket dunking? You can find a NAIA 2 bench player that can do those things.

If Orton is thinking about declaring for the NBA draft, he's an idiot. That or he is lazy and hates Calipari for actually coaching him and getting on him. Orton is a big body, who definitly has the basics of a solid post player...size and strength. Post moves can be developed, but he needs alot of developing. I dont care that he doesnt get alot of touches inside...theres a reason for that. If he was good enough to get alot of plays run through him, they would be, cuz he's in the game plenty, about 20 minutes a game i'd guess. All I see him do is dunk and block shots...which carries value dont get me wrong...but not enough to warrent a 1st round draft pick.

Orton is a less powerful

Orton is a less powerful Perkins, not as athletic as Aldrich, not as talented as Horford who is more a four. Has to shed a bit and work on his offensive moves.
