yeah we are the team to beat no matter what the cavs or dallas does in the regular season. there are a couple of people who are so caught up on the regular season that they think the cavs are the team to beat but they seem to have short term memory and forgot that the cavs had the best record last year as well and still got rocked by the magic. i see them losing to them yet again manily because shaq probably wont be back tillt he second round if that and we all know he wont be in shape. and we all remember what howard did to big z last year. some are no jumping on the dallas bandwagon because of there additions and yeah they had a nice lil win streak but they have came back down to earth and the playoffs is awhole different matter. some may say " well bynum is hurt" but one thing is its a strain nothing major and we showed last year we can win without him although this year we wont have to. artest may not be as quick as he used to be but he is still a top notch defender and he wears guys out with how physical he is.. our weakness is fishers defense but thats out weakness every year including last year when we won it all so im not too worried. then of course we have the best closer in basketball even with 2 hurt fingers. can we be beat?..yea anyone can be beat. injuries can happen anytime. do i think we will be beat...nope
can we be beat, of course. But not one team is really worrying me. Im just glad that orlando and cleavland will have to beat each other up, because those are the two biggest challengers for the lakers. Title number 5 for kobe coming up.
yeah i agree no team really worries me too much. i still stick with boston giving me a lil bit of a worry. they are older but if they are tested and will be a better team int he playoffs and rondo and perkins are better then they were last time we played them in the playoffs
yeah, i dont count boston out either. But again, thats another team out east battleing out. In the west, not one team really scares me. Denver doesn't have the length down low, and as well as kidd has been playing, he is not gonna make fisher pay on a consistent basis. The rest the laker defenders will all hold their own against dallas. It's funny watching these west teams all scrambling their hardest to avoid that 8 spot.
true...its great to be a laker fan..lol. jay blias wasa talking about what a mistake it was to let ariza go and how artest cant hit the threes ariza hit last year and how hes a step slower. i agree with artest not being able to hit the same amount of threes but hes still a great defender and he can hit some threes , not that we need him to to win games. he gives melo problems which is all we really need to him to do. and im sure he will give butler problems as well. sometimes jay doesnt know what hes talking about. everytime i think of him i think about the comment he made about josh smith on draft night years ago
i don't know if you know who Bill Simmons is, but he's a writer for espn.com and he is a widely known laker hater from boston. He was going on no stop about how artest would single handidly be the downfall of the lakers and we can all go tell him he was right after they get beat in the playoffs. It's haters like that that make being a laker fan sweet.
I also got give my man staurt scott a shout out. The other day he said how everyone has crowned lebron better then kobe. He's said thats fine if your just talking about the regular season. But in the playoffs, give me kobe everytime.
yeah i know about him very well...any laker fan knows he is a true laker hater
Lakers are definately the team to beat.
Shaquille O'Neal is traveling with the Cavs and working out on his own. Beat writer George Thomas notes that Shaq is "noticeably more svelte" now that he was at the start of the season. He was running the stadium stairs while the Cavs had their shootaround on Wednesday, a sure sign he will be ready for the Cavs' playoff run.
Also the Cavs have more depth than ppl think with the Powe, Hickson, Big Z, Jamison, Varajeo.
They've already beaten the Cavs twice w/out Jamison.
The Nuggets could be a real threat if Kmart comes back healthy.
Not sure the Mavs losing to the Celtics and Hornets means much they had a small hickup after winning 13 straight.
With Dampier and Haywood they have the size to battle the Lakers.
Everyone goes through losing streaks the Lakers lost 3 in a row to the Heat, Bobcats and Magic.
Should be interesting to see either way I can see the East winning the title this year.
i can count how many times he was said to be in better shape or waorking hard. and doing all that is nothing like playing in actual game. cant substitue that
Maybe so but he's not a top scorer for them just need his size & rebs against Howard, Bynum.
I'd say he'll get some time in the 1st round though.
There are three teams I think that could potentially beat LA... Denver, Dallas and Cleveland. I like Dallas' chances because they now have enough size to compete in the post.
Of course LA is the favorite though. They're the defending champs. Still have, in my opinion, the greatest player in the world. The greatest coach to ever do it. A great team. They're the team to beat.
im just not sold on shaq when he comes back. he wont be in game shape and these games will be every other day
i dont think shaq is a make or break guy. They just want him for 25 minutes to play defense against bigger guys, something z and ilgauskas cant do very well.
true good pt.
Shaq will be motivated to get that 5th ring.
