All-(White)American Team

Everybody talks about the lack of quality white american players in the NBA nowadays and I have to say I agree that the talent pool is simply just not there as it's been in earlier days in the league. No one is quite sure why the league had so many stars back in the day such as Larry Bird, Jerry West, Pete Maravich, John Stockton, etc but now they're looking at no true stars that grew up in America that are white. None the less, there are players in the league that fit that criteria, not exactly stars but absolutely some solid to above average players. I was wondering how this team would fair in the NBA, I'm only going to go starters with their backups though. I was wondering how many wins do you think they could get, how far in the playoffs, and what would be their strengths and weakness'.

PG - Kirk Hinrich/Steve Blake
SG - Chase Budinger/Kyle Korver
SF - Mike Miller/Mike Dunleavy Jr
PF - David Lee/Kevin Love
C - Chris Kaman/Troy Murphy

I don't intend for this to be racist at all, I just think it's an interesting subject, Thanks a lot, I appreciate any input

yeah, i was thinking about

yeah, i was thinking about putting Ridnour over Blake but not over Hinrich. Kirk still plays top notch defense and while not being a top priority on offense, still chips in double digits.

MOre efficient? Luke is

MOre efficient? Luke is scoring 10 a game and getting 4 asst in just 21 minutes. He is shooting 48 fg%, 39 3pt%, and 91 ft %

Kirk is getting those same 10 points and just 4.5 assists while playing 33 minutes. He is shooting 40 fg%, 35 3pt%, and 74 ft%

How does that equal better or more efficent to you? Luke is having the best season of his carreer, but the bucks are going with the young pg of the future for the most part even though the team is probably more effective with luke in the game. That's why luke get's so many 4th quarter minutes unless it is one of those games where jennings is going off.

They have some shooters.

They have some shooters. Kobe would light this team up for 50 points every time they played.

I would give them 30 wins if they were in the West and 33 wins if they were in the East.

i don't care about

i don't care about efficiency ratings, i watch them play. Hinrich is far more inconsistent. Luke is putting up much better %'s across the boards, his per 48 numbers are much better. And he is flat out playing better. But if you saw a number that says kirk is better and go just by that, then go ahead. I like watching guys play personally.

Also, according to john

Also, according to john holinger's PER efficiency ratings, Luke ridnour is the 12th ranked pg in the league while Hinrich doesn't even crack the top 50 pg's in the league, so not sure where you are getting your efficiency rating from.

yeah i go by efficancy

yeah i go by efficancy rating because the peopel who do that take everything into account. its doesnt mean a player is better or not it just shows whos more efficant and hinrich is more efficant. without that id still say hinrich is a better player and im pretty sure most teams would take him over luke if not all teams. luke is good but in my opinion he cant hold a candle to kirk. just like salmon i think kirk would be playing better if he was with the bucks since rose is so ball dominate. my eye test shows kirk is better

Hinrich's PER=

Hinrich's PER= 11.53

Ridnour's PER=17.87

And I haven't checked NBA.com, but if they don't care about the fact that ridnour is way ahead in all the % categories and way ahead in per 48 minute categories, then Im thinking Hollinger might be the more reliable one to judge efficiency.

like i said im taking kirk

like i said im taking kirk because i know hes better..you can have luke. theres a reason teams always ask about trading for kirk but not luke.

fine, if you want kirk take

fine, if you want kirk take kirk. Just don't come with he's more efficient when there's not one single stat or reason to suggest so other then NBA.com told me.

my eyes told me and nba.com

my eyes told me and nba.com says it. you say espn says it so all that does is cancel each other out. so my reasons is from what ive seen so yeah i will take kirk everyday of the week and sunday. i like big guards who have proven over a career what they can do and that can play good defense. i like players who do more over a career then one who does well over a season. but thats just me

I'd take Ridnour too. Most

I'd take Ridnour too.
Most guys here would take Hinrich they are giving Jennings most of the credit for the Bucks and not enough to Ridnour.

prob because luke has had

prob because luke has had plenty of chances before jennings came but not that jennings is here it just so happens that everyone else is playing better and the team is winning more games. luke is a nice back up and id love to have him on the lake show was a back up but id take kirk before i take him. just so happens that thats exactly what my lakers want as well

He is a horrible defender. Hinrich is better. he is a great defender.

Hinrich, Blake, or Ridenour????

I was about to jump in and yell "What about Nash? What about Dirk???" but then I saw "American." This is tuff, but fun to debate.
For your argument, Im going with Hinrich. Luke maybe more efficient this year, but you have! to go with Hinrich. He has had too much as a starting pg and he is a great defender. OR, we can remove Blake and keep both!

I would probably remove Love for Chris Anderson (Den), right now. Anderson is a great post defender.

You've got to give some

@TaylorCondrin

You've got to give some credit to Andrea Bargnani and Jose calderon, i'd take him over Goran Dragic any day, and Andrea is rapidly becoming an amazing player

If you got off of this past

If you got off of this past year than Ridnour trumps both of them but if you look at the body of work than Ridnour does not need to be on here because Jennings seemed to have pushed Ridnour and right now he is looking like a starter in the NBA versus a bench player. Maybe the Knick will take him, because he can shoot and pass and can not defend that well kinda like Steve Nash. I am not saying he is that good people please do not over react. Ridnour is a better point guard than anything New York has right now.

Tim Duncan shouldn't be on

Tim Duncan shouldn't be on the list. He's not really Black American. He's a light skinned Islander... like Rihanna. If I wanted my team to be as competitive as possible...
Question: Does half and half count?(Deron Williams? Jason Kidd? I'm going to assume it does, because why would one half count more than the other... And Blake can hit the list when he's healthy

PG: Deron Williams/ Jason Kidd
SG: Mike Miller/JJ Redick/ Chase Budinger
SF: Mike Dunleavy/ Grant Hill
PF: David Lee/Kevin Love/Troy Murphy
C: Chris Kaman/Chris Anderson

Thats a very good team with a beastly front court.

ya i cant believe we just

ya i cant believe we just argued over hinrich or ridnour. lol. this topic is played out. and i think race is based on the race of the father because of the males dominant genes but it really doesnt matter. the nba doesnt have many good white american players. mlb doesnt many good black american players. point being black guys like basketball more than baseball and white people dont like playing basketball as much. ill take the all nba team because i love watching all the different races make this a great game.

the Knicks are weak at a lot

the Knicks are weak at a lot of positions, Ridnour will not get starting minutes for most teams who have a young but Knicks have a spot. I mean he is an option to look at and should come cheap

For the record, NBA.com's
For the record, NBA.com's Efficiency rating is one of the most flawed statistics out there. If you're going by statistics, don't make it that one.
