Looks like Bynum is hurt too. Timetable to return is unknown as of now.

hopeully it's nothing big.

hopeully it's nothing big. He was averaging 20-10 over the last 4 game winning streak. Right now it's being listed as a strained achillies tendon.

Why is

when oden gets hurt, people start talking about Sam Bowie, was that not at least 20 years ago.

because both had

because both had similarites:

center: check

picked by portalnd: check

picked one spot ahead of a superstar wing player: check

injured from day one: check

But I agree that Oden could stil come back and be a very good center.

Before he got injured this

Before he got injured this year Oden was looking very good. Also if he can stay healthy and just play D Portland has a very nice situation. They have the dominant perimeter scorer, the very good post scorer, the defencive wing (who is getting better on offence too), and they have a young scoreing point. If you add a center that can shut down the paint they are set.

Sam Bowie could have been 50

Sam Bowie could have been 50 years ago, people would still be talking about it.

Bynum has been injured quite

Bynum has been injured quite a bit during his career and this season... He's injured his elbow, knee, hip and now his Achilles Tendon this season. He's just as injury prone as Oden.

On another note... I think Oden needs to start seeing an independent doctor and getting a second opinion. The same with Blake Griffin. I think their teams are mismanaging their injuries, considering both of them injured their kneecaps earlier before completely fracturing the same kneecap.

It's different to miss 2

It's different to miss 2 years of your career back to back... It's one thing to be like Bynum and get injured for a month then 5 months later lose another month.. But this is back to back years we're talking about.. And it's not just any years.. these are the 2 more important years of his career, the years he's suppose to learn how to play the game at the NBA level.. I think he's going to be a solid defensive player and a 10-10 guy for his career but he's never going to live up to the hype of being the "next David Robinson"

10-10 guy

More like a 15-16 and 11-13 type of guy....As long as he stays healthy (super big IF) he will be fine.
