Well put Whiteflash
"Evans is clearly doing well, but his game won't expand much due to his predictibilty and limited athleticism"
You do realize that Evans is easily one of the most Athletic guys in his draft class, he is incredibly strong, has suprising speed and has the lowest % body fat in his class. Just because he doesnt run up and down and all around like he is spazzing out to get the ball doesnt mean he isnt athletic, he knows how to make the game go at his pace and he knows how to control the pace rather than just trying to go as fast as he possibly can.
I am beginging to wonder whether or not you have ever even seen him play outside of this game. He is not even close to predictable, just listen to what actual NBA stars have said about him and why he can be such a nightmare to guard.
I realize you really like Jennings, but you have to be at least a bit realistic about how good both Curry and Evans are and have been for a while now.
Dude, I've watched several interviews with actual NBA players [not just fans on a website] where they state outright that Evans isn't that athletic. He's not that quick, he doesn't jump well and he's not fast. He gets to the rack based off of shifty handles and strength, not speed or quickness. I'm starting to wonder if the logo in your avatar has poisened your brain.
collison snuck up on people?
sounds familiar... I think this guy whos $%^# ur hanging off of might have done something similar. Some guy in this years draft who scouts had nothing on and who had to go off youtube tapes when considering drafting him.
And has really come back to earth recently.
Snuck up on people? He was the HS player of the year, made an unprecedented move and was given the keys to the offense after ONE training camp. He didn't sneak up on anybody. I've already explained why his shooting % dropped for a bit. I can't help it if you're too dense to look at the big picture.
All you need to see is Evans run the fast break and hopefully you will realize that by the time he passes the defenders while dribbling the ball that he actually is pretty quick on his feet.
As for the insults about my avatar / line of thought, I really do wish you luck in future conversations with people who do not appreciate being insulted with vague and jealously motivated comments. Just because a person may disagree does not mean that they are any less deserving of respect, and just because a player is better than whomever you feel fit to praise does not automatically make them enemy number one.
Good night and sweet delusions.
What I wrote was a riff on your initial comment, but apparently you didn't get that. Just 'cause you think Evans is better doesn't make it so, and when I hear several NBA players [you know, guys that have actually played aginst him] say that Evans is NOT athletic, I'm inclined to listen, even if the evidence wasn't right in front of me. "Vague and jealousy motivated comments" [you meant "jealous", by the way]? Dude, you take yourself way too seriously.
The thing is if that is true about Billups, I dont know his stats like that but he came in as a scorer which he was at Colorado. Jennings is more a playmaker and he can play defense right now. His shot will come, same thing with Russell Westbrook. Jennings will average around 43% or better next season and he already shoots a decent percent from 3's. A players second year is when they either rise or fall. You know what it takes and you have worked on your body to prepare you for what you dealt with your first year. Durant did this. Jason Terry did it. A lot of good player did it. Nowitski sucked his first year. People need to remember how old Jennings is. He has lots of room to grow. That is what is so scary about Tyreke who is just as young but is playing so well this year without a solid jumper.
D3WadeIsBetta, yes i've watched plenty of bucks games. I have league pass so it not being on espn doesn't really effect me. That statement wasn't just to you. Just because someone is shooting a bad percentage doesn't mean they are playing bad. Looking at jennings passes i don't see nash but i do see a very capable passer.
I've thought for a while know that jennings would be much better if he had more scoring around him. Jennings was better at the beginning of the season because they didn't see him as their lead scorer so he only took smart shots, know that his team and all the other teams know he is shooting he is watched more closley and is forced to take harder shots.
Also for how bad of a shooter he was said to be coming out of highschool i expected him an airball every shot. I'm exagerating of course but he worked on his shot a lot and that shows that he has a good work ethic which is just as if not more important than making shots right now.
Matter to Jennings more than stats. He will do whatever it takes to win a game. Pass all game, or shoot all game. He seems to be the most competitive out of all these young guards and that has rubbed off on his team. He looks for Bogut ,something a trigger happy Mo Williams would not do or a sniper like Redd.
I think he will only get better and stronger. He is so fast and his handles are so sick right now and his shot is better than expected. The best thing about him is he knows how to run a team.
That being said give me Tyreke now and down the line, then it's a toss up between Curry and Jennings.
Jennings has a slight edge because he is more of a pure pg and is doing it in a system not really built for a pg to run and gun.
Curry is so smooth and can handle and pass it so much better than expected.
I think BK ball is a big knick fan that want to deny that they &$#%#&@! up by not taking Jennings.
They didn't have a chance to take Reke or Curry and they &$#%#&@! up by not taking Jennings if he was in NY you would be a big fan.
evans isnt really athletic.. youre getting how good he is mixed up with being athletic. not sure why any of that matters though because hes still a very good player. as far as jennings and leading the team. you cant argue with guys who think all leaders have to be the leading scorer. he leads the team in many different ways. do ya'll remeber salmons earlier this year for the bulls?.. remember bogut last year? and bk you know you would much rather have jennings then "the deer" or douglas. and he doesnt take a bunch of bad shots he just doesnt make alot of the shots that he does take, which will come with time. we already see what happens when he does happen to shoot well. his game has gotten much better from sr year in hs till now( anyone who has seen him in hs and some of his games on nbatv or that euro basketball site while he was playing in europe can attest to this) and hes already dropping more dimes then andre miller, derrick rose, billups, aron brooks in his first year on a team that is far less talented individually. asnyone who says he isnt a main reason they have been winning games either havnt watched there games or just clueless. sessions played well last year and he had redd(not for the whole season) and richard jefferson yet what did they do?..that right there shows you the impact he has on this team
I'm not mad he is not a Knick, I really like Douglas and even if he might not be as good as the guys that went in the lottery he is a solid PG that seems like a high character guy who takes pride in playing defense. He will also be great next to a guy like Lebron James next year because Lebron will have the ball in his hands most of the time, making Jennings completely irrelevant because even though he is trigger happy he can;t hit a shot. Douglas will play great Defense and hit open jump shots all day sort of like Mo Williams only a better defender. Im mad the Knicks didn't get one of Curry, Rubio or Evans that is true, definitely not mad they didn't get Jennings. I would have loved to see them try to move up a spot or two for Curry. Since GS liked Hill maybe the 8th, 29th and some money would have been good enough for the 7th.
